I have simple diamond stud earrrings as well as lovely chandelier earrings. I also have some pearl studs as well. It all depends on the occasion. I definitely want to wear this out for nice dinners, weddings, and other special occasions.

I want a nice elegant look, but both are just so gorgeous-- ahh decisions!

I'm normally not a fan of huge or cluster diamonds but IMO the 18 carat has presence when compared to the 10 carat, which I feel would just be lost on the wearer unless she is very tiny/petite.

I can't advise if the value would hold for cluster style diamond pieces but I feel this necklace is lovely. And by that accord, it should still command attraction.

The 18 carat is stunning, but you seem to be leaning towards the other necklace. Both are great choices, so you really can't go wrong. I'd go for the 18 carat, just because I like the length better than the 16" 10 carat.

I like BIG diamonds (my tennis bracelet is 14 Cts tw) and I 'd choose the 18 cts necklace, it's more beautiful, and I don't like the way the other necklace is set.

I definitely like the 18 carat best. You see the stones much better.
I think it is more elegant, the setting on the 10 carat is a bit boring in my opinion.

BUT - the essential question is what you like best. Also how tall you are, your neckline - what will look best on you?

If you are buying diamonds as an investment, you should definitely get diamonds with the highest clarity possible. I would not buy SI clarity diamonds as an investment, I would buy at least VS1.
If you plan to sell some time in the future you would get a much better price then.
