Sorry to hear that...best to keep checking and seeing if they stock it again. That is the worst feeling so I know what you mean.

After many phone calls back and forth inquiring about the stock Selfridges let me know that they got more of the topas suitcases (without e-tag) in stock and that if I order again it will go through! So finally I have the dispatch email and my order is officially on the way

Although I will say in my excitement I ordered the size 78cm which I believe is actually called 73cm which is 85L however after putting in the order I saw that there was an 81cm which was 98L available. So not sure if I should have gotten the bigger size.

Its here! Although definitely not exactly what was listed on Selfridges. Height measurement is different as it is 79 instead of 78 as what was listed on the product details. As well the picture on Selfridges has 3 locks instead of 2 and the wheels are different as well! I'm not sure if this is an older model than what was listed on Selfridges but I might email Rimowa and see if they can clarify which model this is.

The Salsa 26 inch with e tag in matte black is 30% off on Zappos right now. I just ordered mine this morning. I've never seen Rimowas on sale! From the picture it looks like it's the new lock too!

Could someone explain the new lock? I own an older Rimowa and I've had a lot of trouble with the lock. I left my suitcase open and unlocked and my husband closed it. If you close it, even without without using the proper combination, the suitcase locks and you can't open it since now it's locked with an unknown combination code. I had to bring it in for repair so they could break it open. Also I find the black rubbery gasket (for lack of a better word) cracks and breaks off. I've had cheaper suitcases that have held up way better than my Rimowa. Very disjointed with mine. Hopefully these issues have been resolved in the newer models.

The new Salsa lock has a circle that you push in with a pen to set the code rather than pushing the nob to set the code. It's much better and you won't accidentally set the wrong code.

What black rubbery gasket are referring to? Do you have a picture?

My first Rimowa cabin trolley is about 9 years old and I never set the combination for the lock. I just purchased two new salsa deluxe cases. a cabin trolley and a 26in, and will have to set the locks. My fear is locking myself out of all of them!

Save it in your phone as the last 3 digits of a phone number.
For Rimowa I would use something like Ramona.

I'm not sure how to post a photo as I'm on my mobile. My suitcase has a black border plastic type of material (maybe rubbery was the wrong word) all around outside the zipper and it's all cracked in places and missing pieces.

i just bought my first rimowa, a creme white 73 limbo with e-tag. (sooo happy!! also my SA told me that the e-tag check-in will be available with united soon!) i love the color so much, but am now wondering if i should exchange it for a darker color? anyone has a creme white limbo that's been traveled with? how does yours hold up after those travels? are the scratches really bad/messy? should i keep my creme white or exchange to a black one? tia! :)

Sorry for being such an old post but I am very interested in buying a topaz check in bag. A few questions:

- a bit concerned on the weight as it is so heavy and 50lb max isn't very much. Does anyone own it and have regrets?

- anyone know of sites in Germany that will ship to the us? Don't want to pay a 3rd party shipper.

I will be going to the U.K. And Belgium later in nov but I believe Germany is still the cheapest place to buy it and it seems they often have sales

Thanks in advance

I have the topas in the bigger us carry on size. I love it. The lock broke when I was in NYC last year. I couldn't get it in with all the combos. Luckily the rimowa store on Madison was able to replace it very quickly on the way to the airport. It feels weird to be locked out !

I have had AA make me size it in the carrier and check it in. It was dented in a few areas but they sent it to Texas and it came back looking fine. I think the aluminum dents a bit more easily than the salsa polycarbonate. I don't like the dents but I know some people hold them as a badge of honor. Overall I'm pleased with it

I set the combinations on my old case and my brand new one as knew that I would have to lock the two of them a couple of times during our trip as the bags were being transported to a location ahead of us. The first time I locked and opened both with no problem . The second time I locked the old one easily, but managed to lock myself out of the new one as I was attempting to lock it. Somehow I changed the combination! The zipper pull tabs were not in the lock when this happened, so I was not totally locked out of the case. Fortunately. I had read, on a travel site, the concept of using an outside the case padlock instead of the built in case locks. I had several so I took two with me and I ended up using it on the case that i was locked out of. I was happy that I brought them along! The TSA lock slipped easily through the holes in the zipper tabs. I subsequently noticed on my train trip to the airport that many other travelers were also using an outside the bag padlock. My DH thinks it looks like more of a deterrent to passing thieves. Who knows?
