Hi all! So far so good with the forwarding company! It's a really straightforward process. The bag was sent to this facility in 2 days. I got an email stating that it's in the warehouse...their service includes opening the boxes to inspect the items for damage so they took a picture.

Then, you select the shipping options (DHL or FedEx) so by next week, the bags should be here.

Hope they don't get damaged in the process!

Please keep us updated with how you go :)

I may look into forwarding services as well depending on how much of a saving it will be.

The luggage arrived a couple of days early!!! Imagine my surprise when I got a Fedex delivery notice that it was out for delivery. It arrived safe and sound, very neatly and securely fastened by the MyGermany.com guys. If I could provide a Yelp rating, it would be a 5!!!

BTW, I ended up order the 53 and while comparing it next to the nylon carry-ons that I have, the Rimowas are slightly more streamlined looking. So if you're debating on 52 or 53, I think that the deeper ones are still okay for US carry-ons.

These look so new compared to our larger ones which after a couple of plane flights are a little scuffed in the alum corners! I"ll need to clean it with oil at some point to see if they will come off.

In total with shipping, I paid just under $1200 for both.

I currently have the 73cm topas suitcase on the way to me! I purchased from Selfridges online and saved almost $400 as opposed to buying it here. Only difference is that this one doesn't have the electronic tag but I am fine with not having that feature. Now I'm looking at carry on luggage but with definitely need something lighter.

I just checked the website after you mentioned. I don't get the Import tax, at first the price of luggage is cheaper than US when I checked out it added the imported taxScreenshot_20170714-093959.png which make not so great

I'm from Australia and we don't have to pay tax if goods that arrive here are under $1k. I'm not sure if it is the same in the US?

For goods that are above $1k we need to pay duties on it as it arrives however Selfridges adds duties for items above $1k at check out which means I don't have to pay anything extra once the item gets here.

Congrats!!! You are not going to miss the luggage tag! I bought 3 large ones in Europe and 1 had the luggage tag which was a little annoying because it cost more. No one except Lufthansa and maybe Eva use that tag so completely useless for me.

Thanks! Excited for it to get here :)

I'm currently looking at carry on luggage and as much as I would love to get a topas for carry on it just is too heavy. I've settled on the limbo as I like how it looks and it is the max amount of weight I would want in a carry on.
Can anyone shed some insight whether Selfridges have listed their product details wrong?

Black Limbo is listed as 3.8kg

Red Limbo is listed as 4.2kg

I've had a look at the Rimowa website and the Limbo in this size is listed as 4.2 but I'm wondering if the black limbo could be an older model and therefore lighter?

I think that there was an older model that was slightly smaller. Honestly, in the end, I went with the slightly deeper model (53 in the Rimowa style number) which gives you a 23 cm depth vs. 20 cm. It's not any bigger than my US carryon but may not be suitable for use outside the USA. The slightly smaller one that you're seeing may be smaller than the 52 model. Which may be hard to get much inside.

Can you call Selfridges to ask before buying? I'd call the store in London and speak to someone in the luggage dept. vs. the website call center. Too expensive a purchase to have to ship back.

Btw, good choice on the Limbo!! it really is best if both worlds. The polycarbonate doesn't seem to scratch badly -we had ours thru flights and trains. The alum corners will scuff but I think that I can remove those. Just haven't had a chance.

I found the Rimowa item number in the URLs that you had pasted from Selfridges which i bolded- note that:

I didn't even notice the item codes! Thanks for that :)

Unfortunately Selfridges emailed me yesterday that they have cancelled my order as they didn't have the stock! Absolutely guttered considering it was a great deal. I'll probably go with the Limbo or Salsa deluxe now as I don't want to pay the retail for a topas.
