RIMOWA, Anyone?

i just bought my first rimowa, a creme white 73 limbo with e-tag. (sooo happy!! also my SA told me that the e-tag check-in will be available with united soon!) i love the color so much, but am now wondering if i should exchange it for a darker color? anyone has a creme white limbo that's been traveled with? how does yours hold up after those travels? are the scratches really bad/messy? should i keep my creme white or exchange to a black one? tia! :)

so, i decided to keep my creme white limbo 73, and (perhaps this might be frown upon :p ) i bought a protector for it, and she has just survived her virgin plane ride from LA to NY flawlessly! :) i also requested a “fragile” sticker from the airlines. :p love my limbo so much!! xx :) [emoji173]️[emoji173]️[emoji173]️

since LVMH now owns 80% of rimowa as of jan this year, i dropped by rimowa ny store during my recent trip to check out if they are planning anything special/new collaborations. the wonderful SA told me that LVMH is working on a lot of new exciting things for rimowa, and a lot of new changes coming up! x

In late 2011 I bought a matte black Rimowa Salsa Deluxe hybrid bag, the one that's hard on three sides but has soft pockets in the front. I love it, it's a mid-sized bag, too big for carry-on (on any airline) but not full size. Perfect for short trips. They don't make it any more, so I'm really glad I bought it back then. It's still in great shape. The four wheels are sturdy and they make the bag want to move...that's the only downside, on a slanted surface, that bag will take off on its own! Too bad it doesn't come with brakes. But you can steer it with one finger. Sorry to read they're part of LVMH now -- I suspect those new changes will also include a major price hike.

I have been very pleased with my topaz suitcase and it has down very well on it's first trip to Japan and then Hawaii. I'm travelling back to Hawaii at the end of this year and because I did so much shopping on my last trip I realised that I should be bringing two suitcases. Just wondering has anyone travelled putting a smaller rimowa suitcase in a bigger one and checking that in? I'm trying to find which rimowa size would fit in my topaz so I just check in the one bag there. I think a carry on would fit but I want probably the next size up from a carry on ideally.

I’m thinking of buying a topaz for a checked bag (I currently just have the carry-on), can I ask what size you have? Did it get dented up when you checked it?

This is the one that I have. No dents at all from both trips although there are scratches on the corners of the suitcase. Only downside is that it weighs 7kg.

I'm thinking of buying a salsa air to pair with the topas so that I can shop more haha. It's hard though because I can't really bring my suitcase to a rimowa store and see which other size would fit inside. I also don't trust some of the measurements online as they vary slightly.

Thank you! I agree that the weight is a downside, but when I compare it to my old Tumi suitcase it’s really not that much heavier...

Have you thought about just buying the 2nd Rimowa while you’re on your trip?
