Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

CWC is back from her social media break and it looks like shes moved onto Fendi, Lol.

Im watching her “keep or return” themed video and my goodness this woman doesnt seem to do her research on the luxury bags she purchases and then is a stickler for everything (glazing, weight, the strap..ect)

Truly unfortunate because its a beautiful bag.
HCWC just bought a hermes birkin lol explains all the recent returns and vlog sale

Definitely but it still seems like such a random purchase given she claimed to not be a Birkin girl until verrry recently.

We’ll see how long she keeps it for.

At this point CC seems to like the high of a new expensive coveted bag…unboxing/filming..wears a few times and then shes over it and wants to sell it.

My boutique (Europe) told me that as of now one person can only buy one bag within 60 days...but it seems they have other regulations in the US?
My SA in US said it's two bags within 60 days, but you can't buy two classics. You can either buy one classic and one 'fashion' bag or two fashion bags. General math is 6 classic bags in one year or 12 fashion bags in one year.

These past month or so I’ve been calling SAs and Chanel customer care for items which I understand ofcourse are high in demand. What surprises me is that I will talk to my SA and customer care and not one of the many items on my list are available but the same day I will see resellers posting them on IG and ofcourse asking for premium prices. I’m beginning to think they put themselves on all of these wait list and will get them first before us and obviously when they get it, they sell at higher prices. Now because we want the items so much and don’t want to wait for another increase, we’re ending up buying the items in much higher prices than they already are. I've seen so many hard to find items in the hands of resellers and I see many bag lovers getting them from resellers instead of the stores. I think there is something wrong in this picture. Is it just me thinking this?

The key is to being VERY on top of the seasons and knowing months in advance what’s coming out. Which means doing a ton of research at all times and know when and what seasons are coming and contacting your SA’s. That’s the only way you’ll get a bag you want. Waiting until you see a collection come out or right before will almost result in you not getting a very in-demand bag.

I think the SA's also work with the resellers . Probably they get commission from these resellers & personal shoppers.
How else would they get all the unicorn bags & hard to find items ??!!

Having worked in luxury, I highly doubt it. The SA’s don’t know who does what, unless that personal shopper/reseller has disclosed it, which is highly unlikely. The SA probably assumes this person is very wealthy, just like another client who purchases a lot. It’s not like these resellers are buying multiples of one specific item. Fashionphile is the one exception because they have a direct relationship with Neiman Marcus (although not exactly sure why and how that works out) and I know they must get bags from them because they’ve had multiple quantities of the same sold-out-everywhere-crazy-in-demand bag’s often.

I’m so glad you posted this! I’ve been shopping at Chanel for years now and in the past my SA will send me some of the stuff coming in and see if I want to reserve. Now they no longer doing that cause there’s so much demand that their store waits for people to send them pics of what they want to reserve. I don’t have the time or energy to be stalking what’s upcoming months in advance to get on a list. So by the time I inquire about it (which is still early and before the bags are released), the list is closed. For instance this has happened to me for the houndstooth mini last year and the gold mini from 21P and I just texted to add on the list for the black caviar rectangular mini with handle that’s coming out for 21S and he said list was closed after 2 days! I missed it by a day! He said he was flooded with texts about that bag awhile ago. I feel like this has got to be resellers cause I’ve been shopping with the same SA for 7 years and it never used to be like this.

It could be resellers, but it’s also bag aficionados who spend a lot of time researching bags far in advance (like me) and get in contact LONG before 99.9% even know what’s coming. If you want a bag now you gotta put a lot of time into it, especially if it’s a hot ticket item.

Also, I’ve been told that Chanel is no longer sending out large shipments of inventory. Each store gets a far smaller amount than they ever have. It seems their plan to making the brand more exclusive is finally in motion. I’m hoping this brings back a larger focus on consistent quality since they’re making fewer bags.

Honestly the “KEY” is to understand that these are just “bags” and if we call and check and they’re not available … oh well.

I used to be so obsessed to the point I’d impulse buy a bag due to FOMO and have major regrets after. Now I look back and think “what self respecting person would be desperate about a bag like this?”

If there are suckers who are willing to pay premium to these resellers and enter into a race with them, that’s on them.

It’s become madness at this point, shopping for bags should be a fulfilling and stress free experience.

Fortunately I’m a camellia level client so I don’t have and issue & if one of my friends is desperate for a bag I help them but I certainly wouldn’t charge a fee and I would never buy a bag to resell it at a premium.
But it is maddening when I’m offered a bag that I don’t want but I know someone desperately wants it and I can’t just get them to be allowed to buy it in their own name because the next person on the list after the Camellia clients is a known reseller.
It’s not right and Chanel needs to go back to their registered personal shopper program if they’re going to allow just anyone to claim they’re a personal shopper.
There’s maybe 2 or 3 that are actually ethical that do it the right way. The rest are just Instagram self proclaimed personal shoppers.

I’m just being honest about what you have to do to get a certain bag you want at Chanel. You have to be strategic.

Am I obsessively trying to get a bag 24/7? No. Do I impulse buy? On a bag that’s several thousand dollars? Definitely not. But I know what I want and I regularly keep an eye out and when I find what I’m looking for I’m on top of it.

Chanel has begun producing even less quantities as of this year so it’s even harder to purchase bags. They’re definitely trying to make things more exclusive and hopefully that means quality will be consistently high again across the board.

If you don’t care enough to figure out how to get a highly sought after bag, cool. But this isn’t Coach and you’re not just going to be able to call and “get a bag.”

I wasn’t criticizing your strategy, I just wanted to let it out that we shouldn’t succumb to these luxury houses “games” … they’re toying with us and it irks me.

But if people love the “game” … good luck to them.
