Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

Someone bought it and paid $12K for it lol. And this is why FP can charge what they want to. Someone will always buy.
This is true. Someone always buy something from reseller, that’s the main reason they can charge whatever they want and this won’t stop until people stop buying from them. There should be a campaign to say no to reseller. Me personally will never buy from them with ridiculous price even I super love the bag. Chanel has so many beautiful design, if you missed something, you can always find something nicer later. It’s not about life or death situation, just move on.

How do we know for certain that some one bought the bag ? Fake postings are part of marketing and to create FOMO
Let us not forget Marketing is a billion dollar industry !

am jot saying it is afake post but there is a chance!

Yup... fake listings also happened in property market (just naming one as i was house hunting last year so i came across more than 1).

As the saying goes, lets take what we see/read in social media (+ sales listings) with a pinch of salt.

It's a crazy world any way.

I can believe this only on the account of the relationship between Fashionphile and Neiman Marcus. Take it off FP, sell in the stand-alone NM boutiques. Who would know any different?

Absolutely ! There are so many fake jobs advertised just to collect people resume..

The world at the moment is just about marketing ! Sometimes unethical too..
The influencer industry is a 10 billion dollars industry and marketing on the whole is even bigger ! We fall prey somehow

You are correct, nobody know if a person really bought it. Or if it’s just marketing. But for me, I don’t care. It won’t affect anything to me since I am not buying from them. My FOMO comes from tpf, when I saw people posting their stuff.

CWC is back from her social media break and it looks like shes moved onto Fendi, Lol.

Im watching her “keep or return” themed video and my goodness this woman doesnt seem to do her research on the luxury bags she purchases and then is a stickler for everything (glazing, weight, the strap..ect)

Truly unfortunate because its a beautiful bag.

Yeah based on the thumbnail, I can tell she was a bit confused about the purchase and my question is why would you buy a bag and then ask your audience if you should return it? It doesn’t make any type of sense.

It seems to be her M.O.

That fendi bag wasnt cheap either..I cant imagine buying a $4k bag and not thoroughly researching the details…(i.e, glazing, strap, weight) in person.

So I was at a Chanel store today (in a department store) and was invited to look at a buy book. Another customer was reviewing it with her SA. But she was blatantly taking pictures of every page and texting someone. I had to wait half an hour and when I got the book, I noticed ONE specific name on almost every popular seasonal and classic bag….and on a lot of accessories like SLG and costume jewelry. I thought the stores had a buy limit? Does it only pertain to purchases and not how many reserve lists you can be added to for a stores buy? Do people try to get on as many wait lists and just reject/buy as they come in?
The fact that this person was texting and taking pictures of the buy book makes me think this is a reseller but I didn’t have the balls to say anything in the store. She could be a VVIP for all I know :angel:I did notice that this particular boutique was cleaned out…..all of the glass displays were empty! There were probably 6 handbags and a few SLGs in display cases. But that’s it. Nothing else in the back! It’s insane how crazy the rush was to buy before the increase :hrmm:

i won’t share the name of the boutique or location because I like to stay anonymous. But Chanel corporate spies who read TPF: you need to stop these resellers from getting on these lists in the first place. Shouldn’t there be a limit on how many items you can get on reserve for at a single store? Or at least there should be a system that prioritizes customers on the list based on how many items they will purchase from a single store. If they are on reserve for two bags, then the remaining bags should have them at the bottom of the list. Or something! Otherwise they’ll get first dibs on everything that comes in on launch day

lastly - friendly tip. My other SA mentioned that SAs do talk to each other within a boutique and know when a customer reaches out to multiple SAs in the same store. They don’t like it. It obviously shows up when SAs go to put you on a list too. So ladies/ gentlemen- Don’t risk your SA relationship just because you want to hedge your bets on items that are on lottery :heart:

Oooohhhh reading that and picturing the lady taking photos and texting made my blood boil.

The customer is probably overseas and can’t travel so they have a personal shopper.
Maybe a LindeSsss (YouTuber) type …

As infuriating these types of customers and resellers are, I always remind myself “it’s just a bag”. And it always grounds me.
