Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

The newest collection is out in the US stores. And idk guys am I wrong in thinking that there seems to be less frenzy over this collection?!? I’m not seeing as much price gauging and hoarding of bags by resellers. Perhaps the new measures put in place by Chanel is actually having an impact and real buyers have been able to get their hands on their desired bags!
I think some of the measures are helping in the US (nothing has changed in Canada). Also there seems to be less "hot" bags in this collection. So far it's just the grey that people are trying to get.

The pure price point of classic flaps in grey vs mini caramels also makes a difference. More people can rush out and buy a $4k usd mini than $7k classic flap. The grey slgs are really popular based on the price point.

Also to add, if the hot bag is a flap that has the new 5 year warranty + registered date code then I'd personally rather buy it from the store than from a reseller.

I agree not any so called “unicorn” in this collection also 5 years is better than 2 years and makes sense to buy from store

I discovered something very disturbing last night when scrolling through JRB's IG page.

She sold someone a fake Chanel pearl bag from 19S.

I am 100% sure of this fact.

This is incredibly disturbing. A reseller who is selling thousands of items a year to customers needs to be able to properly authenticate the items they are selling. If they cannot do that, they have no right to be in the business of reselling handbags and other designer/luxury items to trusting customers who may not know better, and blindly trust that a reputable reseller knows how to properly authenticate. I understand that some items may slip through the cracks from time to time, but Julia boasts that the items she and her company sells are "always authentic".

The fact that she has this picture posted on her IG, showing this bag off and with a caption saying it has been sold and sent to a happy home, is even more disturbing because it implies that Julia still, to this day, has no idea this bag is a fake. Either that, or she is knowingly posting and selling fakes to people?

I feel so bad for the person that bought this bag from her, and I really really hope they will see this comment and demand a refund.
JRB should do the right thing and reach out to them and refund them, but I doubt she will, and even if she says she does I won't believe it without confirmation from the customer.

Look at ANY picture of the authentic pearl bag from 19S. The pearls are ALWAYS the same. There is no variation. The fake bag is 100% for sure a fake, there are no doubts.

Oh this is scary !!

Posting YouTube videos n increases viewership is her “job”.. totally understand that Alyssa wants to earn extra money by pushing for promoting but lately watching her videos are mostly about product placement. Most recently Farfetch codes n sponsor videos from Farfetch. Most of items she promoted are pricey. when she started her YouTube video journey it wasn’t like this..
As I said before, she is a content creator and that is her job. She makes money trough sponsored content. But if it's only sponsored content people look like walking ads and you just don't know what is genuine anymore.

Being a content creator is buying a bag, do an unboxing, what fits un my bag, wearand tear ect. Not dropping hints about wanting to let go of a bag and ask your followers if they prefer a set price or want to bid on those bags. Then you are a reseller and not just cleaning out your closet anymore. Just be upfront about having a large following and want to cash as much as you can. Like and subscribe might be free but these are premium bags and for some of them she didn't even pay retail.

If she was transparent about wanting to make money things would feel different. And I know these are just feelings, but a public person relies on the bond their following has with them. You watch abc because xyz, if xyz was missing you could watch anybody else out there. Imo she just lost her credibility.

This reseller lives in Vancouver. It is one of the most competitive cities with one hermes store and one Chanel store. Those hot bags she's selling in the pictures are very difficult to get. Some speculate the spend is 2-3x for b/k/c. The only thing harder to get than a bag is a house lol. (The market is hot with bidding wars and housing starting at $2m)

It tougher to see a reseller that's local and is somehow able to get the latest bags from stores for resale rather letting someone buy the bag to enjoy. The local Chanel store only orders like 2-4 bags of each colour to sell.

I'm in Vancouver and follow few instagram sellers. I don't know if you noticed but all of sudden quiet a few of them had all these "boutique fresh" burkins and kellys they were selling. And I don't doubt what you heard on the speculation spend for the b/k/c. I've only frequented LV and even the SAs monthly goals are around 100k before covid. I felt very bad for my SA that I'm not rich.
And as for the housing.. how did this city get to the point where it's over a million dollar for a condo?! We're not New York. We don't have competitive enough job market to warrant that!!

I had to revisit this thread as I'm witnessing the reseller all over again with current season of Chanel. But not only that, even with price hikes I'm shocked at how many people rush out to buy! I guess I'm at a point that I'm too poor for any bags now. I wanted to visit the boutique for even slgs(I self banned on small things), but even the competitiveness is putting me off.

I've never been so sad to let money sit in the bank.

OMG this is super scary! Especially since the differences between the two are so obvious that any layperson (ME) can tell! Another reason to be extremely discerning when buying from a reseller. I don't trust any, except Fashionphile based on experience, but due to their high markup, I won't be buying anything current from them.

So, I was just browsing on FP and a popup survey appeared. You better believe I submitted feedback. Submitted a "complaint" and commented about their high markup and low buyout offers and how they basically tanked since their merger. I ranked them as a 5/10. Was that too generous??
Yes, way too generous. I'd have given them a 1/10. And 1 only out of pure generosity

Totally agree!
And I think with every price increase its harder for a customer to spend money outside of the boutique and put thousands of dollars at risk when purchasing from a reseller. Despite good referrals the whole transaction is a HUGH financial RISK. As you said with Chanel now offering warranty and guarantee of authenticity perhaps less buyers will turn to resellers and pay a premium.

If I'm the SA, I wouldn't care less who I sell the bags to? Whether it is an end user or reseller since I would be paid the same anyway ‍♀️
This is true but most people on tpf are not an SA and because of resellers also not on the recieving end of Chanel. That is what's so frustrating.

Off course this is also true for sneakers, houses and so much more, but it is nice to have a place to vent.
