Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

If I'm the SA, I wouldn't care less who I sell the bags to? Whether it is an end user or reseller since I would be paid the same anyway ‍♀
SAs do care because those resellers will also get buyers to buy non bags which give you commission. Also, wouldn't it be easier to hit a sales quota by selling 10 items to on person in 20 minutes than to someone who walks and needs to look around, think about it and then takes 1 hour of your time to buy 1 item?

I discovered something very disturbing last night when scrolling through JRB's IG page.

She sold someone a fake Chanel pearl bag from 19S.

I am 100% sure of this fact.

This is incredibly disturbing. A reseller who is selling thousands of items a year to customers needs to be able to properly authenticate the items they are selling. If they cannot do that, they have no right to be in the business of reselling handbags and other designer/luxury items to trusting customers who may not know better, and blindly trust that a reputable reseller knows how to properly authenticate. I understand that some items may slip through the cracks from time to time, but Julia boasts that the items she and her company sells are "always authentic".

The fact that she has this picture posted on her IG, showing this bag off and with a caption saying it has been sold and sent to a happy home, is even more disturbing because it implies that Julia still, to this day, has no idea this bag is a fake. Either that, or she is knowingly posting and selling fakes to people?

I feel so bad for the person that bought this bag from her, and I really really hope they will see this comment and demand a refund.
JRB should do the right thing and reach out to them and refund them, but I doubt she will, and even if she says she does I won't believe it without confirmation from the customer.

View attachment 5109160< - always authentic??

View attachment 5109163< - picture on her IG page, with a caption saying that this (FAKE) bag has been sold to some poor, unknowing customer

View attachment 5109161. View attachment 5109164< - pictures proving this picture is really on her IG page (go check it out yourself!)

View attachment 5109162 < - comparison picture of an authentic pearl bag from 19S compared to the fake pearl bag Julia sold someone, with the very obvious tells circled. Look at ANY picture of the authentic pearl bag from 19S. The pearls are ALWAYS the same. There is no variation. The fake bag is 100% for sure a fake, there are no doubts.

To be fair and to update everyone reading in case this hasn’t been seen yet, Julia Rose Boston has responded in this other thread:

I'm honestly not sure I believe the story, but even if taken at face value I am still concerned that no one on Julia's team nor Julia herself noticed the bag was a replica. I noticed in just a quick scroll through her instagram. I also find it odd that Julia is now saying the bag "might" be fake when it definitely, without a doubt is fake. And lastly, I understand making posts to increase engagement on social media, but the caption says the bags on the top shelf and bottom shelf were sold...so even if the story is true, the caption was misleading.

this is somewhat true. It depends bc some stores/SA only cares about making your sales goals. But for my store we (well most of us SA) do care to provide some sort of experience to real clients and want to try to build a relationship with them. Sometimes we want it to be more than a transaction, which is all selling to a reseller would be. There are other metrics that we are expected to make and selling to the same resellers dont help with that either

I totally agree, it is their page they should be careful with what they put on there!
As customers how can we be sure that they are genuine about the items they sell as well, if they are careless to use a fake bag to attract attention !
Silly really

This is true but most people on tpf are not an SA and because of resellers also not on the recieving end of Chanel. That is what's so frustrating.

Off course this is also true for sneakers, houses and so much more, but it is nice to have a place to vent.

I stopped buying sneakers because of resellers. It’s so hard to buy a shoe for retail when they use bots to buy multiple pairs online.

I totally agree! And her prices are just ridiculous! Even for items that you can find in the boutique like the classic flaps.

I am sorry! I am also having a hard time buying shoes. I cannot even try them on when there are no sizes available. Have you checked the stock thread? I have seen some sneakers listed. Also try to reach your SA early as soon as you see the stock items for future collections. I was able to score the combat boots this season only because I reached out to the SA about 3 months ago. Thanks to @nat74 for all her help! The only challenging part is the sizing. Good luck to you!

Wow, this is wild. I'm not sure I believe this explanation either. Such misleading business practices. Julia Rose Boston pretends like she has all these unicorn bags in her possession to sell (or that she has sold already) but really some of these images are just "content" created/curated by her friends/staff members who privately own bags?

I hope more and more resellers get exposed for their shady practices so that they can eventually get shut down. I think I'm just salty because I've lost out on so dream bags only to see them pop up on Instagram at $2k over the retail price.

I have been watching "following" several bags on FP for a few weeks now. Several small/medium chanel double flaps. FP is now taking them down and re-listing them at higher prices since I guess everyone now knows about the July 1 impending price increase. They are now listing "excellent" condition medium double flaps around $8200. :yucky:

This is mindblowing to me! Just 3 years ago, in 2018, you could buy small and medium classic flaps in rare, unique, coveted colors in pristine condition, full set, for around $2900 on FP. Seriously. I have the receipts.

Who would've ever thought in just 3 years the prices would've increased to $8000 - $10,000 for a medium classic flap on FP.
