Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

I noticed Je Suis Lou is selling a lot too, I feel every other video she says she is getting rid of bags. In her defense she said she was selling below retail but I do feel it’s weird she also has many unboxings regulars now. I wonder if the world opening up a bit more will nip some of this behavior down. It’s exhausting considering the issues regular in store customers have been having with limited stock.
I stopped following her because of this. Nothing wrong with selling your items, don't get me wrong, but it just seems so not genuine now, and it appears that she's partnered with a reseller for more "influence" which is a total turn off.

Funny bc used to enjoy all these YouTubers’ videos (Alyssa Lenore, Je Suis Lou, Hello Catwalk City, etc) until recently …their constant unboxing, selling, even vlogs just don't interest me anymore. I agree w all of you guys on here w regards to how their content has been a huge turn off. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good ole unboxing but it would be nice to see more wear/tear, review videos of them actually using or styling their bags. Seems like those days are gone… I’m pretty much down to one YouTuber whose content I really enjoy, StyleSuzi. Love her vlogs specially w her little one.

I have only paid over retail +local tax for 3 chanel items. I won't allow myself to do this on a regular basis and only on stuff i will love. Once you do it once, it's easy to make it a regular occurrence, it leaves a bad taste and then it comes excusable and easy to justify.

I asked a group an opinion about paying over retail once and I hate when someone says "it will just go up in price on the future anyways". I also dislike how resellers are using the word "premium pricing". It's just fancy words to say: above retail, overpriced, expensive, sucker pricing .

Haha love “sucker pricing”. So true.

Same boat. Unsubbed from MelSoldera, Alyssa Lenore, and Hello Catwalk City. MelSoldera has especially been over-saturating with a reseller she works with—she just picks up bags from the reseller and describes them on her channel too often. Love her personality and style but constantly featuring reseller bags is a huge turn off. I'm still on the Je Suis Lou train—I haven't noticed a ton of reseller vibes every single video, and she's starting a sailing channel with Paolo soon too.

I'd love some channel suggestions with fun personalities, mod shots, bags, and general style talk!

This was what happened to me a few posts ago. ER( 2nd hand seller) posted a beige m/l flap with no card 15 series for $6300. I DMed her and she said it just sold.
Few days later YF(reseller) listed the exact same bag for $7500. My heart sank. I used to buy from YF twice before but now I unfollowed and not going to buy from them anymore.

Then today I saw a local selling platform (something like tradesy) someone listed a red chevron mini for $4900 and when it sold, a seller TC posted the exact same bag for $6300!!! I used to buy from TC twice before too and she used to have really good deals as she gets from Japan directly... but after seeing her recent prices and that she buys to resell I unfollowed her as well.

All above are sellers selling locally.

As for international sellers I have purchased from TimelessLikeAud & Luxurytholic before and paid 1-2k above retail/market. Even though their response and service was good I am forever plagued by THAT feeling when I look at my unicorns. Like "Have I paid too much?" but "No one forced you to pay!" and "I got what I wanted and everything is good so why care?" yeah but "I could have bought 2 instead of one! or get another VCA!" and yeah I know it's very 1st world problem so ok I'll shut up and see myself out... sigh....

So disappointed with how things have turned put about chanel. Nothinng in the latest collection that I fancy either.
I think I'm taking a chanel break. :/

Your comment reminded me of another experience I had. I saw a pristine condition, brand new with tags, coral velvet mini from 14K listed on TRR for a reasonable price, below retail. It sold quickly. Imagine my surprise when I saw the same exact bag listed on tradesy by a professional reseller company for $8,000 a week later. It's still here today! coral chanel mini

This actually makes me so angry. They took that bag away from someone who could've found their dream bag for a great price, and instead bought it just to flip and make a profit. I hope no one ever buys it.

I'm really sorry you have negative feelings when you look at your dream bags. I hope you can enjoy them and love them!

I think taking a Chanel break is okay too. Sometimes it can just feel kinda stale or not exciting anymore, especially with how difficult it is now to get the bag you want from the boutique, and I think taking a break can be a good thing.

Yes! I used to be a huge fan of Mel too but recently I’ve found myself skipping through all her videos…it sucks bc I used to enjoy watching YouTube videos. Really not so much anymore :-(

Hugs. I could feel you, reading your post. When one door is shut (perhaps half shut), another is open.
Hugs again.

Hugs :)

This. The greed of it all. I love my bags & would never sell them. But I will definitely not buy from resellers anymore. Sort of completed my collection & just enjoying them. If I buy again it would be directly from boutique only.

Same, I paid over retail+tax twice. NEVER AGAIN.

I think that thinking of “it will go up” does not justify the “premium” at all.
It’s really sucks.

I enjoy sophie shohet
She is not solely focused on unboxing and shopping all the time. I love when she diverted topics into her personal experience of reselling her items and discuss is it good idea to buy high end luxury thru Klarna
Sophie does do product placement but she is not overly pushy about it

Amber Ashleigh seems honest and has a few Chanel bags that she has done reviews on. I also like Emma Anders (Honest, funny), Black and Gold Style (she has an amazing Chanel collection!), and therealshakeen (she has many Chanel bags mostly classics and few seasonal bags and has done good styling videos). A lot of other YT channels have been promoting resellers which is a big no no for me. I have unsubscribed a lot of them.

Wow, that's awful. I saw a similar thing happen- there were a pair of Christian Louboutins that were exclusive to Net a Porter and they sold out quite quickly in all sizes, and then they popped up on Tradesy (in ALL sizes) also by a professional reselling company. They were priced right around retail but I still don't understand why resellers do this?? I truly think these sellers will face karma. The hype around Chanel right now is at an all time high and I don't think it's going to last. Especially once people start traveling and socializing more. It's a trend and just like all trends things will pass, and then these re-sellers will be stuck with an inventory of seasonal bags that they will have no choice but to lower their prices and reduce their profits.

I have told myself I am never paying above retail for these bags. There will always be more bags in the future!

I’ve yet to pay over retail even for something that I really want…I just can’t get myself to do it. I’ve come close, very close, on several occasions but it just always bothered me too much to go through w it.

It is very hard! I am eyeing a bag on fashionphile but it is slightly above the retail price. I am so tempted but keep reminding myself it is not worth it! I am going to wait until Chanel releases the color which I am sure they will..but I find myself keep coming back to the bag and the feelings start all over again haha!

Sophie's one of my favorites! I think she's also the style YT I've subscribed to the longest. She always comes across as honest, personable and just all-around relatable person who just happens to love luxury.

Thank you for the suggestions—this is a great list! I'll definitely check them out.

A few other non-reseller style channels I still enjoy are: Sophie Shohet, Catilin Pawlowski, KarenBritchick, xsakisaki, Chase Amie, Colourful Noir, Mel in Melbourne, Isabelle's Style, Bargain.hunting.blonde, kimdao, and Je Suis Lou.

You know who I miss tho? Minks4All, she was SO much fun to watch especially her Minks Monday Q&As but she's fallen off during quar.

Oh I know the feeling! I had a bag that I actually purchased from FP that was slightly over retail but ended up returning bc it bothered me too much that it was over retail. I count the tax too but even then it was over and it just didn’t sit well w me. I still think about it but not to the point where I regret not getting it.
