Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

Actually there’s nothing wrong about curating or downsizing your collection. But if it becomes “intentional” , that’s another story. Life changes may happen : no longer fit your lifestyle, you may have financial priority, or just because you wanted a smaller collection. But these people who we are calling out are the ones who hoarded the unicorns and resell them for premium. Money may have been a motivation or youtube content.. that the posting-reviewing-making hype and selling - has became a habit
Exactly my thoughts!

Yup, exactly. CC used to do vlog sales and now it seems like she only sells through her consignment page

Its definitely become a cycle with her, and now shes rushing to sell items to justify her random “purchases”, Lol.

as an SA, i can say these resellers are quite the headache. I can only speak for my boutique when i say we all do our best to deterr resellers. If we get even the slightest feeling that a client is a possible reseller, we send their info to corporate. We check everyones purchase history to make sure we are not exceeding limits and such. But im sad to say not all stores are this way. SAs will sell just to make the sale (we dont get commission unfortunately.) we get frustrated when we see other boutiques not following the same rules and protocols. But as SAs, we can only do so much.

New to this thread, but have thought Catwalk city was bogus even from the beginning. Buying and returning bags for views to run ads to monetize a channel. That’s all it is, folks. Anyone who has to explain how financially secure they are, generally are not. Plenty of you tubers have the funds to collect. Just don’t believe she is one of them. Her voice is cloying and smug. Didn’t realize she’s a reseller now lol. Always buy from the boutique. Cut out these middlemen fraudsters. Didn’t she start her channel complaining about Chanel? Lol

On a positive note, has anyone seen the new video from Emma Anders? I know this comment is for the Youtube thread but I loved how she showed wear and tear on bags she had for years! Nothing about how many bags she resold or plans on reselling just her thoughts on her bags and the wear and tear. There is nothing wrong in reselling handbags from one's collection. I have sold a Gucci bag myself because it didnt suit my lifestyle. But she is not like the other Youtubers mentioned here.
I love watching videos like these. It gives me an idea of what bags I want to add in my collection. I appreciated her honesty. She is one of my favorite YouTuber at the moment. I made sure to like her video.

Yes! Love Emma - she's authentic and her videos are enjoyable to watch.

Thank you all for the intel regarding Hello catwalk city reselling activities!

I'm not sure if members here are familiar with luxy theory from youtube. I used to like her content on youtube. her reviews and styling tips were helpful.

I suspect that along the way she became a part-time reseller who openly offered her personal shopping services in sourcing items from Hong Kong under her youtube videos descriptions. That is fine by me. The weird thing is, she would shop and unbox various items from Hermes and Chanel on her channel and would claim to love them only to resell them later on her blog. One green kelly 28 which she claimed to love was found later on vestiaire with a hefty premium. The listing has since been deleted. Her viewers called her out and rightly so in the comments section. In another video she admitted that she didn't like her SH black birkin 25 anymore and that the bag was not her style. It looks like she has changed her mind and is currently happily touting various birkins and other Hermes bags on her instagram account.

Sometimes it's unclear to me whether her hauls were bought with her own money for herself or was she unboxing stuff she had bought for her client. Aside from few Hermès, Chanel and Mulberry bags, she rarely reuses her stuff. Her latest videos centered mostly around hauls and unboxings.

Currently her channel shows no videos. Either her videos were made private or she has deleted them. Her blog is now under construction.

It seems tacky that some personal shoppers/influencers would unbox their clients stuff and pass them off as personal shopping 'hauls'. I hope this practice is only limited to some random individual wannabe influencers.
I used to watch her sometimes. I recall in one video she mentioned that if you ever wanted something she'd be willing to get it for you if you lived in another country. I'm naive, I thought she was being a nice person and offering from kindness. Maybe she was a reseller, who knows. I know she had a sister who also ran a YT channel although she never really spoke fondly of her own sister.

I think cause she's getting married and having a destination wedding along with a new puppy, things are probably getting a bit tight(I don't know how much her fiance makes) plus they are doing renovations at their home so she's most likely selling bags to sustain her lifestyle.
She was always up front about having a curated collection and that is why I liked to watch her. But every now and then there is a bags video, dropping that she wants to sell bags and then selling them within minutes. Nothing wrong with that, but not selling trough a third party is also saving her money.

If she said that she has a reasonably unique position and want to monitize that, then it would feel different. She has talked about her finances and pov in the past. The way everything is set up now doesn't make her look financial savvy but inauthentic and money grabbing. She is even making the most out of her puppy with all those ads and his own instagram.

Even with the renovations, destinaton wedding, birkin and so coming up I would rather have her be honest about this than softly nudging her following in a certain way of thinking. Which is her right to do but in my head she went from "click and subscribe if you like this energy" to reseller real quick.

Rissalicious, thanks for the intel. Do you think that reporting people to corporate has improved your boutique's ability to serve actual customers? Have they been limited in their purchases company-wide?

And where are SAs not following the rules? I'm assuming department store boutiques? My boutique SA once said something unprompted to me about resellers trying to snatch up all of the 21S pink cardigan that was so popular, I could tell he was annoyed about it but didn't elaborate on what (if anything) they were doing to stop it.

As a company, we're kind of slow. Our Ops manager says that even if we report these people with all the evidence (ive sent screenshots of people ive found on FB to prove), it takes a long time for corporate to do anything about it. Which is really frustrating.

When we look into what boutiques are not following rules, a lot of it are department stores. Some are bigger volume boutiques too.

Another thing that makes it hard for us (SAs) is that there is a huge problem with people leaking internal info. All this info and images that people get their hands on that is meant for Chanel only gets posted out there and then EVERYONE knows whats coming and tries to reserve everything. Gone are the days where we would quietly do our buys and wait to have any reserves until a month before collection launch. now a days people know things before us and it gets overwhelming when we get a huge influx of people reaching out for things 6 months ahead of the collection. Thats another reason why things are much harder to get these days (for clients), and why popular items are getting fully booked 6 months ahead. These days theres a reserve list for everything :(

All this buying reselling stuff really turns me off. It just makes everything less luxe. I’m not trying to buy a $5k+ Chanel bag off FACEBOOK or Instagram for over retail or even AT retail. Ew. I’ll just wait for something at the store if I have to pay the same amount or more! Nothing special or even fully safe about buying from a random person off social media. It’d be different if they were charging significantly less.

also I wish people would realize having a trendy in-demand bag does not automatically make you stylish and cool. It’s about the person wearing the bag and not the bag alone. If I see a super trendy bag worn by someone with bad style, then that’s just thousands of dollars wasted.

I thought I was the only one who felt that it was too soon for her to push these pet ads surrounding her new puppy. Like give yourself a chance to enjoy him instead of trying to monetize. A lot of people were also turned off by her Farfetch video where she was encouraging her followers to spend a certain amount in order to have access to Celine and other brands.
