Resellers getting Chanel items first and selling for premium

I know a lot of money is subjective but only $125 to stand in line?? To turn around and make thousands in profit? Wow.

The line standers probably do not have $$ to purchase the items themselves and/or a network of clients to sell to. Minimum wage is less than 8 dollars in Korea; $125 is a lot for a day of standing in line objectively speaking. Genuine customers are the only ones who lose here.

Yes, I understand the how and why which is why I said a lot (or a little) of money is subjective. My point is they are paying someone crumbs (in comparison to their profit) for their thousands in gains.

I agree! And I understood what you meant.
Also I dont think they actually go inside. They are paid to stand in line. They probably call or text when they are close to the entrance and that is when the resellers go inside. If this is indeed the case then Chanel really needs to step up their game.

I have done this too for some stores when the lines are huge especially during COVID. I would make my husband stand in line while I go to the other stores lol. But this is different and I am actually buying it for myself or my family.

I am so upset and very disappointed
After waiting for 6 weeks to find out that I wouldn’t be able to get my mini caramel ( dream bag) . I texted and let my SA that I have known for quite sometime super early and she said she will put me on list. I only contacted her because I wanted to get a bag from her . I keep texting her every week to see if any update and what # am on the list etc… She keep telling me she haven’t get lookbook yet but my name will be on the list . 2 days ago I just got closures answer ( well because I asked ) that she only got a few in and I have #8 so she doesn’t think she would be able to get it for me because it doesn’t look those front people would pass and tell me to wait for next season if that color come back again. Like WTH? I was shock!! And thought I should be somewhere on the top of the list. The fact that I am very upset is she didn’t tell me what # I am the list , keep avoiding giving me straight answer , didn’t give me a reason why the hell i am on #8 when I texted her super early and alway reminding her that I want that color , drag me around with her til it is too late to try to get it from other SAs. Now I am start to see reseller jack up the price and was able to get those hard to find bags easily make me more mad .

The SAs do this on purpose because they don’t want you on multiple lists on the off-chance they may actually be able to pull through with the bag.
No. I reached out the font. They was looking for a item in the thread on this platform. I gave them the picture of the bag I took at the boutique to show my Sa who had the same picture from me. I told this font to tell the Sa I'm referring them which apparently this font did but wouldn't give their name to the Sa which is letting me know that this font is using this platform to find merchandise and Sa information. My Sa is asking me questions like do I know this person's name? Where do I know this person from? I'm like OK this font if they are not locally to pay cash for the merchandise they are not willing to do a phone purchase with the payment link. My Sa is telling me the font is thinking about purchasing. I'm like ok let me go and blast this font out and I will post all text messages. What a mess. And I read through the threads of resellers and ps shoppers but I try to give people the benefit of doubt.

This may be a Chanel newbie that’s overly paranoid about giving their card over the phone or something because wouldn’t a reseller know that they need their info to look their purchase history up? You aren’t allowed to buy virtually without purchase history and they check that you’re in the limit too. Or do you think this person was part of a reseller network just verifying that item was at that location and they were going to have an associate do a walk-in and purchase?

I’m kinda disappointed with my SA too. I texted him asking if it’s possible to put my name on the waiting list if there is any fro swimsuits. And he answered me that no because these are sold out everywhere. Later on I contacted customer support on Chanel website and they checked stock and gave me the address of the store which one has it. I called the store and turned out that they have only top but not the bottom. But I was told they might receive it in few weeks. As a new customer I have a feeling that Chanel doesn’t care about new customers and only cares about vips.

Sadly you have to have a bit of skepticism with Chanel. I was looking for a hard to find bag and I was told repeatedly by customer support there were none in the country. After being told for the third time by customer support there were none of the bag in the color way I wanted in stock I was able to find TWO of them from different SAs and purchased one. Never take no for an answer and assume people will lie to you for no reason. I know that sounds really toxic but I know I’m not the only one on here that has had similar experiences.

Oh like a placeholder. Got it. I was thinking standing in line to go buy the product that they give them the money to go and buy. Otherwise, how are the resellers able to get past the limits.

I can't buy the newbie paranoid theory if they reached out to the Sa number 1 who could also be reached by calling into a major department store and transferred to the Chanel boutique. Still seems suspicious when you refuse to give at least your first name as at least a friendly guester once this font made contact with the Sa with the info I gave them. Now the font locates the merchandise and now they are thinking about purchasing? I also being nieve gives Sa number two information to this font that requested second hand bag also. Two different Sa two different locations. After the interaction with Sa number 1 this font doesn't bother to respond back to me via pm which could have destroyed my relationship with my Sa if we didn't have a friendly relationship. Even as a newbie I'm sure the Sa would have explained the process of having a history to do a phone purchase. Like conversations was discussed in these threads about post history and interactions and recent join dates I'm going to be a lot more cautious about giving out Sa information. For me lesson learned.

Oh good point. That was just my assumption. But isn’t there no buying limit on just classic flaps? Slgs, popular seasonal bags, shoes, CS are also being flipped on the resale market especially the popular ones.

When I was in Hawaii, the SA there told me that stores have ways to hide stock from other stores. She was telling me this because I was asking about cfs and she said I should try the other location even if it shows up zero stock for her. So it's not really like CS is lying but you definitely can't take their word for it when they say it's out of stock everywhere.

I agree. I had to check myself several times when thinking of buying a bag at such a premium on resale esp when it's still available in the boutique. If I cant get it from the store then forget it unless it's vintage. Like I still think about the tan castle rock from 2013, but the so black 19 I was lusting after? pass. Chanel may come out with these bags another season so I'll wait. If they dont then I have $7k in my pocket. ‍♀️

Now you know why I ignored so many people…:P

Nat helped me get the vintage button earrings that were hot last year (they were already reselling for way over retail) and now a year later, i see them pop up at almost 200% the original price! I'm always grateful and happy when i wear them. They make me feel like a million bucks. Gross that resellers would take advantage of that and take the opportunity away from a real CC lover.

For who and where? VIP maybe but for the rest of the purchasing customers there's definitely limits on those items for the U. S.
