There's leather filler you can buy. I know you can buy it from the Furniture Clinic, get the lightweight. You fill it in, let dry then I would condition with the rest of the bag. There's a Bal thread somewhere and the girl had a badly used beige Bal she made new again. Dyed it black, filled the holes in the corners and handles, and re-roped the handles. Amazing renewal, you can do it!

Thanks chowlover2, i doubt i can re-rope hahaa...the ropes look fine just that one of the end has frays..trying to think how to tug it in. Is the sealent that cracked..so i have read about this lady using Black Edge Kote to fix it. Will take a look at the filler, not sure whether they ship to my country in Asia. I also thinking of bringing to the cobbler (Mister Minit) or something to see whether they can fix it too. Will see how it goes.

Thanks for introducing Furniture clinic, i saw some of their repair videos, look amazing...need certain skill and patience..:smile1:

sometimes i wonder why we put ourselves in such situation whereby we buy a bag and we still must fix it. But i still love this combination. luckily the handles are still firm and not sticky, other than the corners and handles i mentioned. There are some scuffs here and there, i think can use Apple to condition it i hope.

Will take a look at some of the repair threads too hmm thanks

The edgecoat should take care of the handles really well.

Thanks, i guess i will do that. Still thinking about the corners. I have read about how Kerry transform her beige Bal to black by dying, etc. It was an amazing job. her corners she used i think Leather Dye before sanding it, etc and apply Black Resolene. I have the Neutral one though..

Not sure whether i should just use Black Edge Kote to mend the hole lol

Furniture clinic suggested to me better to get the bag professionally repaired...oh well.

Mister Minit (shoe repair) quoted me about $22USD+ to repair that corner but the guy told me that part may look blacker than the rest of my bag, so i still not sure whether to take the risk. hmm. he even suggested me to restore my bag for 110USD+ or so...i scare the whole leather texture will be altered...:p

I just noticed some dry glue parts at the bottoms, i should find some Leather Glue?

I've had the Amp plate silver city bag for all of a week (very much in love) and I'm devastated by a scratch right down the middle of the logo!! I took it into a Balenciaga store and asked if there is anything to be done... The woman said there is nothing they can do.... She was also very disinterested. I was shocked that they weren't more helpful. Any time I've had a problem with a "brand name" purse and took it back into the store- they bent over backwards to help ( LV, Chloe, even coach!)
I'm contemplating on taking it to a jewelers. Any other suggestions??

There seems to be a lot of this kind of complaint. Why on earth should the Bal store be liable for a scratch? You carried the bag and it now has a scratch. Stuff happens. Why don't you try to buff out the scratch? Do you really feel the need to take it to a jeweler? Handbags are meant to be used and yes, they will show battle scars.

First of all- I don't think the Bal store is liable for a scratch. But I do think that with a high end brand like Bal - that the employees would be a little more helpful and at the very least point me in the right direction on how to fix it.
And yes, hand bags are meant to be used and "stuff happens". But I've had it for a week. And it's my new favorite. Of course I want to keep it in top condition. I don't think I'm being too over the top in asking.

You are not over the top in asking, and I think this is the reason forums are for so as to gather and discuss problems, or make reveals, discuss about quality and service. When I read your article I realize that you didn't blame Bal for the scratch but you blamed the SA for being disinterested, and you were absolutely right. I think when we pay that much money we buy quality AND service. And there is after sale service too, which I always have with LV if I take an item even after 3 years of use (they replaced a wallet for me). So you are right demanding that at least the SA should have turned you to the right direction so as to fix this.

Now about the scratch, I realize that you eye falls on it every time you look at your bag. If it bothered me that much I would either take it to a jeweler as you said because I think they have a way to fix scratches on every item they sell so I guess this little plate is nothing for them. But you should expect to have scratches on this plate. This was one of the reasons I don't buy these bags and prefer the old version. But it is such a beautiful bag and you will enjoy it, so if you are going to use it a lot, I don't think you should fix it as you will most probably have more scratches on it in time.

Thank you cat1967! ive been a fan of this blog and forum for a while and this was the first time I actually posted. I was kind of disappointed with the first response I got. I'm so happy you reached out and gave me a different perspective.

I understand how you felt but don't be disappointed. You are going to love it here. Yes, you might find yourself in difficult situations sometimes when people disagree it is like that, but we are all interested about the same things here and by disagreeing and discussing we learn believe me. I wish you to enjoy your time here and your beautiful bag!:smile::hugs:;)

Ahhh, I see, yes I do agree that the SA could have been more helpful, I've heard that kind of thing too often...forgive me if I misread your post, I thought you were saying that Bal should be held responsible. Do be warned though, there's another thread that was posted this week about someone who had dropped her new bag and dinged a buckle. She tried to buff it out and the finish rubbed off...

That is so awful to happen especially if the bag is new. I only try to fix bags when I am sure I will not ruin them or make a stain or something look worse. Especially with Balbags I have come to realize that if you rub the leather for example the color may come off. One has to be extra careful with them.

Now about SAs, I think there are good ones and not so good ones or better not so professional ones. I think this job requires that you are polite, friendly and helpful as much as possible. Even if the item is not defective you have to advise the buyer on how to have it fixed. I once bought an Ultraviolet Work from our Boutique and when I got home I realized it didn't have the leather swatch inside. I called them and they reacted as if it was my fault or as if I was crazy for asking for it. Well, when I buy a bag new I want it to have everything. I had to wait for two months in order for them to bring the leather swatch and even then they looked at me in a strange way. But there are some others there who do their best to help. So I guess it depends on the personality of the SA.

Added to that they should know their product! When our Nordstrom opened up here in Vancouver I naturally bee lined it to the Bal counter and the SA there (and the next visit as well) was clueless about the brand. Compare that to Chloe...I purchased a pre-loved Paddington hobo that came without a key. When I contacted the company I was told it wasn't possible to get one. A couple of days later I received a phone call with an apology, and the key along with it's tassel was sent to me free of charge because someone had made an error saying it was unavailable. Now that's service.
