oh didi. i'm so sorry. i know i was hoping for a happier ending too. i agree though it's still beautiful! (just a thought...if they can't find a replacement maybe they can at least give you a discount...after all, it wasn't supposed to be 50% because of damage)?

thanks nycmom! i LOVE NYC btw, lived there for 2 years...anyways, i'll see what Brandi says. Hopefully she'll offer some kind of additional discount. that would be ideal! =D

you know what, i'm just going to keep it, though i don't know how it will do if i decide to sell it for a cornflower city. like would anyone want to buy a bag with this deep scratch on the back?

Of course! With a decent amount of discount, less than retail but maybe still slightly more than you paid for. At least you'll break even, don't worry ;)

Plus cornflower is GORGEOUS! Next season I'm sure people would start looking for it

Maybe Balenciaga needs to put a warning tag on the bags: Due to the manufacturing process and distressing, your bag might crack or rip.

Another suggestion is to mention, lube the bag as a preemptive measure".

didi78 , sorry to hear that happened. I hope you will follow-up with Brandi at Shirise and they will stand behind the products they sell.
Good-luck.

I have to say that although you can see the scratch in the 2nd picture, I bet that if you showed me the bag I wouldn't be able to find it. Part of the beauty of Balenciaga is the distressed aspect of the leather and the marbling/distressing will conceal the scratch well. I think also with more use as your bag becomes more and more broken in, the scratch will *really* be imperceptible. Lastly, when I think of what is to me truly chic, brand-spanking new doesn't usually fall into that category. Chic style (at least in my mind) is a combination of great style with ease - that broken-in, effortless style...a la Kate Moss (whose stuff never looks brand new and instead looks like it has many a "scratch").

that's true pixie-girl, i think these bags get better with age too :smile1: ...and the older they get, the less noticeable any imperfections will be...and i think didi's shrug looks much better now & i know how much she 's the color...please keep us posted didi-girl & let us know what you decide :smile1:

HAHAH. that's great. they do need a warning tag! check your bags everyon! make sure to lube it with lubriderm or apple, whichever you had on hand!

And YES, i think after time i'll probably forget about the rip. I'll keep you guys updated....and thanks so much for your concern!

I decided to take my pewter day out to dinner with the hubby. I have been totally loving the pewter color. And the bag style went so perfectly with my outfit. After dinner, I picked up my bag from my chair and upon walking outside, I noticed that I had one bit whitish streak on my bag! I took it into better light and it looks like it got paint on it. The only place we went was this nice restaurant. I don't understand how it happened unless someone/something brushed up against my bag!!!

Of course, instead of leaving it alone, I decided to take some applegarde conditioner and try to clean it once we got home. There was some sort of weird reaction or the area got even more worn (Hubby and I disagree about this)... and now it looks like a giant whitish streak on my beautiful bag!

Does anyone have any recommendations??? Is my beautiful bag ruined now? I am so bummed!

oh no!!! I'm so sorry to hear this - how awful!!!!!!!!

Could you take it to a local leather repair shop to see what they can do? Usually Nordstrom or NM (if you have them locally) can recommend a shop.

Good luck and keep us posted!!!
