I own the cws & would describe the 2nd one as black & cerise, rather than fuschia , cerise (to me) being a very pink red rather than fuschia which to me is a deep pink . Colors are so subjective

Hermes did a lot of black & cerise at one time, which, to me, is diffierent to work with than a straight black & red , or a black & pink

Either of the scarves would go with a LBD but finding cerise things to match is hard. I am always trying to find the perfect match in accessories to some color in a scarf and cerise bracelets are hard to find, but that is just my anal retentive fashion sense, I tilt at fashion wind mills a lot LOL

As a relative newcomer, I'm hoping the wonderfully helpful and so knowledgeable members of TPF can offer some suggestions. I'm very interested in purchasing a very classic themed carre either 90 or 70cm. By classic I'm thinking the theme would be related to the origins of Hermes, that is, saddle, harness, crop etc., something other than Brides de Gala.

Many thanks,

Maisie Z

I don't know anything about Hermes scarves, but my daughter brought one back from Paris for me in 1994. It says, ........Les Rubans Du Cheval

The pictures posted are from the picture on the back of the Hermes scarf box. I don't know if the pictures are that true to color........it's a very dark blue border. Is anyone familiar with this scarf?

Rubans du Cheval designed by Joachim Metz I think 1988, although it's been reissued a couple of times. The picture is fairly close to real life.

Could anyone help me id these 2 shawls? thanks!

next time you want a scarf identified, you might want to take a pic of it lying flat. makes it easier for most people to ID since I am not always around.

the first one is untitled but referred to as "Srinagar". the pink one is "Daimyo". You should be able to see the title in the middle of the shawl, about one third down from the top

Not exactly certain this is what you're looking for but I'll give it a go:

Les Amazones 1974 Ledoux-Rybaltchenko
Cuirs du Desert 1988 Francoise de la Perriere
Cavalerie Francaise 1960 re-issued 1999 Philippe Ledoux

There is also Selle d'Apparat Marocaine. It is actually featured in the new
Hermes Carre Book, with a picture of a saddle and the scarf next to it.

Hermes boutiques carry a number of the "classic" designs you desire, MaisieZ, so if you can get to one nothing beats actually trying on the various scarves in the different colorways. That's the way I started decades ago and still do it today.

Thannk you both sdsurfchick and merrydish, I will research the tittles offered and, when able to, make a trip into the city to check out the classic designs.

Happy New Year Everyone!

MaisieZ, it makes all the difference in the world, believe me, when you actually try on the scarves to see if you like the designs when they are tied.... when you find a design you like...and discover what color suits you. Plus, it's really fun when the SA shows you certain ways to knot or drape. Have fun shopping!

Thank you for the advice MerryDish - I hope to go into the city tomorrow (weather permiting) and will definitely try any scarves on. The one other trip I made proved your advice to be true as there were some gorgeous scarves and yet when on me were a no go. Such fun in the search though!
