I sent my scarf off to be repaired but as soon as I get it back I will let you know. I'm very curious about this scarf! Thank you for all your help; it is very appreciated.

tell me which copyright
1. might be in center with title
2. or on the buckles on the borders, or on leather straps , or both mid way up the scarf (from top to bottom)

I think spray starch makes a scarf too stiff, but, others use it with success, depends in part on your skills at ironing

IMHO the starc:tdown:h sticks to the bottom of the iron and gunks it up

Caring for your scarves

I know there's been some discussion on this, but I wanted to bring up the topic again. I would like to hear how you all wash your scarves. I've gotten a silk wash, which I love, wash my scarves in lukewarm water, dry them on rack, and them steam them to remove wrinkles. Lately I've been wondering about spraying a little starch on the wrong side. Has anyone ever done this, or am I thinking crazy thoughts again?

Hello,
I'm new so I appologize in advance if I get things wrong.
I have seen a scarf on Ebay uk that I'm interested in Pavois by Phillipe Ledoux.
Item number: 310017880214.
The seller says she bought it from Hermes London in the 80s but the issue dates for this scarf are 1964, 1990 and 1998.
Would it be likely that Hermes would still have a scarf for sale that was issued 16 years previously?
This question puts the whole scarf in doubt for me.

Big ebay haul this weekend! including these two scarves. Can any one please tell me the name of this Linares? and Year? Also - who did Feux de Route?
thanks

see attachments in next message - having some difficulties

Sorry - for some reason - having problems with attachments. One carre is Feux de Route, the other is a dead birds thing by Linares
many thanks all
margie

no one remembers EXACTLY what the issue dates were for most scarves esp vintage like Pavois, so, I would not be concerned about the stated dates

It was reissued Spg 2007 so there may be some in the stores but - the 2007 ones were in NEON BRIGHT colors, so not to everyone's taste

first of all, welcome to the forum.

second, the ebay seller is right. (maybe that's why they have such a high transaction number and feedback . . . ) Pavois was available at the H boutiques in the 80s. It's in a 1986 Hermes brochure.

You know, I bet you got those dates you are treating as gospel from Luxury Scarves. Luxury Scarves has no official affliation with Hermes. I wouldn't mistake them for the silk archivist in Paris if I were you.

Hello. I hope I'm posting in the right spot. Apologies if not; there's so much on this blog it's a bit overwhelming!

I have an Annie Faivre "Chapeau!," and I'm trying to find more information, including the year. It has a red background, and the design colors are blue (somewhere between cobalt & navy), turquoise, green, off-white, grey, and gold. Does anyone know this scarf? I've seen it on Ebay with a dark blue background, but haven't found the red online anywhere (below is a link to that blue version). Mine is in perfect condition; never taken out of the original packaging (until today, when I took it out in order to find the name). And, yes, I'm trying to get some idea of what its resale value might be. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Chapeau is from the Fall 90-1 collection. To estimate its resale value, go to Ebay and serach for this design eg using Hermes chapeau as keywords (make sure to chek the completed listings):yahoo:

Merci, MarieTouchet. :smile1:

Since all I can find on Ebay is blue, is it reasonable to assume the red is approximately the same value?

Good idea about checking "completed listings"; I hadn't thought of it, but it makes perfect sense; I'll try to figure out how to find those.

no easy way to tell about the value of red vs blue, and it does depend on the shade of red eg vermillion, cerise, lipstick red etc

but I'd use the blue price as a first guess
