I'd love some help with the correct spelling of the name of the artist on a Hermes scarf I own. The scarf design is En Piste - it's from 1998. The artist's signature looks to be R Danet, Dattet, Daret, Datner, Datter??? Can't read the handwriting. Also - anyone know if this is a rare or not? I've tried googling and only found the year. The scarf is authentic -I bought it at an Hermes store.

Thanks for any help.

Robert Dallet is the designer of the beautiful Hermes scarf "En Piste". Scarves from 1998 don't tend to be what's considered "rare". You see it from time to time on Ebay. Congratulatiions, it's lovely!

Thanks Merrydish!

This scarf is gorgeous, but I'm more of a longer scarf girl and I just never have worn it so was thinking of selling it, but I've sold mostly handbags (yes, I have a little shopping problem) on Ebay and I'm seeing the Hermes scarves vary widely in price. Can you give me any guidance as to what you think the value should be??

Thx,

Suzzeee

I've never sold on Ebay but I would think the best way to start figuring out a price is to look at "completed sales" in the advanced search area. The scarf's condition will be important: no odors, runs, pulls, holes, stains, discoloration, flattened hems. Also, some people do want the care tag still on the scarf so be sure to show a photo of it if it's still on the scarf.

Hi everyone! I have yet to dabble in scarves but I remember during my last visit that an SA was wearing a scarf as a belt and I thought it looked amazing and super chic. I have no sense which type of scarf would work best as a belt. Can anyone help me? Thanks so much!

The regular size twill scarf (35" x 35") folded on the diagonal can be used as a belt. It's strong enough (unlike chiffons) and large enough (unlike the smaller twill pochettes). Color is up to you. Do you want it coordinated with what you are wearing or do you prefer contrast. Hope this helps.

That helps a lot! Thanks. I think I like both options: contrast and coordinating.

Recently I found this Scarf in the attic in my parents house, where I dumped it more than twenty years ago. Back then a SSO gave it to me and I was not very excited. Mind you, those were the eighties and cool twentysomethings did not wear Hermès scarfs!!!

Now of course, I'm in love with it and since I love horses and riding it's all the better.

Thanks to Rose, I found out a bit more about it: it's called Courbettes & Cabrioles, designed by Françoise Faconnet and the year is 1962!

Can't tell you guys, how happy I am to have found it!! :yahoo:

Have gone down the rabbit hole!! Just back from a trip to Paris where I had determined to treat myself to my very first Hermes scarf -- the Jeu des Omnibuses. I'd seen it advertised in a magazine and love the graphic black & white. But in the store the scarf was actually more like a very pale gray, which looks terrible on me, so the SA whipped out the red version and I was sold!

I wore it several times while I was there, and it made me deeply happy. So happy that once I got to to the airport I lost my mind and bought another one -- the Jardin d'Hiver in the blue. So unbelievably gorgeous.

So now I am an official Scarf Junkie. Scarfista? Scarficionado?

My Jeu des Omnibuses now smells like perfume, however. (Several different perfumes, as a matter of fact.) Besides just airing it out, is there a way to get rid of the smell? (Something tells me Febreze + Hermes scarf = sad.) I'm a big perfume person and don't want the smells from my scarf interfering with the scent I choose to wear on that particular day.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your 2 stunning Hermes scarves. The best way to get rid of perfume smells from scarves is to air them out. I have hung them on the back of a door for a week or more depending on how bad the odor is (these are some I've gotten from Ebay). To keep this from happening when you wear perfume, don't put the perfume on your neck and don't spray perfume all over you while you are wearing a scarf. Do put perfume on behind your ears and on your wrists and if you have to reapply do it on your wrists. In other words, keep it away from the scarf. I'd also air out that scarf overnight just in case.
