Wonderful stuff! This is what makes H scarves stand out from the crowd. I love it! [emoji4]
Me too ! I am sad that the new geometric designs - which are quite pretty - lack stories ... OK, full disclosure - they wrote stories for (for example) the Nigel Peake ones - eg On a Summer Day - but those are full of fluff, or as Shakespeare would say "' full of sound and fury and signifying nothing". I dont do fluffy.
It was so cool putting together the story of Marine Naive, as a team. Well, must give credit kudos to Pautinka who did all the real work Bravo!

Thank you marietouchet...but if you hadn't put my nose to the right track I would have followed the wrong scent completely so thank you for the education and guidance! Now, I have a little admission to make - I have enjoyed this journey so much that I think I made a successful bid yesterday for a silk 90 of this scarf on the *Bay. I kinda feel I owe it to Henry to have one - he has become almost like a friend the past few days! Thanks @bunnycat! [emoji23][emoji23]

Ooops- accidental enablement! (who am I kidding? I'm excited to see it!) :D

That is so cool - the scarf will be special for you - I have some like that , I did the due diligence and they came to life. All of the Hallo designs are like that for me, I even bought his book
I can see why - Hallo's designs are beautiful. Yes, I am very glad to get "Henry". Just goes to show - every day is a school day and TPF is the best school there is when it comes to scarves!

Almost bid against you for the same reason! But wasn’t sure of the tan color for me. Still keeping an eye on the design though :)

Haha! How funny! I negotiated a little reduction with the owner and successfully got it this morning so I am quite happy. If nothing else, it will go with my beige raincoat!

Very fortunate! I am sure it will work great with your coloring. Would love to see it on!

Should probably stop hijacking the thread now ^_^

I think you'll be able to pick up any of the accent colors and use those to pair it with- green, blue, red, black.
I would do cobalt or emerald - those colors rock ion the scarf but then that is me I never go tor for adjacent colors on the colors , I do complementary colors some would call those clashing colors LOL but that is me

Thank you both! I'm looking forward to meeting my new friend Henry and matching him up. Not long to go......[emoji4]

paging @marietouchet!

We're all wondering now about the history of the Henry Smith Sailor Scarf (aka Marine Naive) by Phillippe Dumas...
Do you have any words of wisdom for us? I haven't really been able to uncover the whys or wherefores of the scarf I just know I liked the embroidery or tapestry like look to the execuction and that it is a cotton 70 (1999, I think).

Went back and read all the posts about this interesting scarf and its history - like you Bunnycat, I really like the scarves showing various techniques from other hand made items, i.e knitting (got A Coin de Feux - looks like knitting and with a trad Norwgian motive in the corners), and would love a Chevaux de France (cross stitch) in a suitable colour. Now you've made me put one of these on my wishlist
