This is honestly one of the most ridiculously insane deals I've ever found honestly. This is a coat, as worn on the runway by Jessica Miller, from fall/winter 2004, which is one of my all-time favourite Marc collections. Surprisingly, there are also a few fakes of this coat floating around on eBay and Poshmark despite it being a pretty nondescript runway style, not something like the heavily monogrammed RTW pieces that were being faked at the time and even now!
The craftsmanship is unbelievable: the wool on the shell is woven in this gorgeous chevron weave, and it doesn't pick up on camera, it actually sparkles in the sun because it has lurex thread in the wool. There are many gorgeous French seams and other very couture-level examples of high craftsmanship, especially compared to the fakes I found!
The seller looked to be fairly young (gen Z) and I find young people aren't familiar with Marc's ultra luxury years, and she priced this coat at $85. It had been available for a while so she offered $55, to which I thought I'd gamble and counter offer with $38.50. She said yes!!! I remember feeling so scared for that entire week that the seller would back out/it would get lost in transit/something else would happen. But luckily there were no problems and now she's mine! The buttons are a little loose so I haven't worn it too much yet because I want to get them reinforced first!
