Is it really? I went to Ulta today and I didn't even open it because the bottle looked very brown to me so I was thinking it was like Gelish's Sweet Chocolate. RCM is not to shabby on bottle colors but that is way off. The bottle is totally brown.

I saw Camera Flash and it was a glitter hot pink  I've never found hot pink to be flattering on me at all.

Thanks about Best Dressed. I looked at a dupe list and there wasn't one listed for Samurai yet. I picked up 9 Inch Heels and it looked very Samurai like on the brush minus the glitter.

Yep I know the bottle is deceiving for sure I always pick it up thinking its my black from my box. But it is the dupe for samuri I will take a pick of my swatch for you today

I was caught by this one too! That bottle is soooooo deceiving. But it is one of my fave colors, I must say!

Just an FYI...

Ulta is currently selling the four colors from the "A Red Carpet Moment" display for $4.99 each. The colors include Award Winning, I Can't Believe It, It's a Champagne Night and My Thank You Speech. The sale is online also...

My Ulta had MANY left and I found them in the clearance aisle in a bin on the bottom shelf. They even allowed me to use their current 20% off coupon.

My ULTA is still selling them for $9.99 and has no idea when they will be on clearance.

I just got from my Ulta and they were still $9.99 too. I wanted the red one, but put it back because I was limiting myself to one and was already getting Wow! If they were $4.99, I would have definitely got that one too!

I just came back from mine, same here. My Sally's also never had Gelish in clearance either. They have 3 bottles of the neons, still regular price. I don't get it.

Knowing me I'd have been pulling their website up on my phone and getting a manager to try to get them to honor the clearance price! Lol

They brought the neons back out for this summer - my Sally's had a new display. Also the pink, purple and orange are part of their regular display now.

I did my first RCM last night, and it has already started lifting. I'm thinking the I did the layers too thick. I will be letting my nails rest a couple days before trying again. I'm so disappointed

:( sorry to hear you didn't have success. What is it that you don't like? Maybe the ladies here can help pinpoint what went wrong and help you out :)

Sorry, I just reread your post, where is it lifting? Did you clean any excess off of your cuticles before curing? Did you make sure that the nail was cleaned with cleaner or acetone first? If so then yes, it was probably applied a little too thick. It may take a couple of tries to get the technique right. Also which light were you using? I've heard a lot of people have trouble with curing using the portable light.

One whole nail peel off by me just picking up my ipad. I did not see any lifting before that happened. Then most of them were starting to lift off. I purchase the RCM pro kit at Ulta. I thought I had cleaned my nails really good before applying. I may try again this weekend. Hopefully with better results.

Be sure that your nails are "dry" before you put on gel polish. Clean them with alcohol or acetone, not water, since water will be absorbed by your nails and may cause the gel polish not to adhere like it is supposed to. If you do wash your hands with water, be sure to use a dehydrator before your base coat.

Also, be sure to keep your coats as thin as possible, so that each coat will cure thoroughly before the next one.

I hope that the next manicure is more successful! I've found RCM to be as long-lasting as Gelish, so I hope you have the same luck. :smile1:

Yes, definitely try again, sometimes it takes a little while to get used to doing extra thin layers. Make each layer as thin as you can, even if it means doing 3-4 thin color coats as opposed to 2 coats that may be a bit thicker. That way each coat gets cured separately and you still get the desired coverage. Try not to use any lotion or oils before doing them and clean them/dry them out with alcohol, acetone or the RCM cleaner really well. Which color were you using, I had a color that I had to return because it was just impossible to get it on properly and thus didn't cure properly.

Also someone posted that some hand lotions used within the first 12-24 hours (I don't remember exactly) also caused the polish to lift.

It might be a cuticle thing. I did my first RCM Saturday and it's still on. Though I've been worried because it's extremely thin IMO. I like gels for the extra thick feeling but it feels no different than nail polish. While 2 Gelish manis actually felt like thick gel. So I'm on the fence with RCM even though it's super pretty.

If you cure it really really good I don't think thickness is that big a deal. I did a super thick mani before this one and that bad boy held up 18 days and was still on fully when I removed it Friday. Then I redid them Saturday.

Did you dry brush the base coat? That could be some lifting too.

From what I've read they're actually both (gelish and RCM) manufactured by the same company and the same formula. The only real difference is one is marketed to pros and the other to DIYers. I have several of both brand as well as the base and top coat for each and they feel exactly the same to me. Even if cured longer the thickness in coats will effect the look and feel and wear of the final product. The thicker the layers, the less time you'll get out of the manicure and generally more lifting/peeling. Plus you don't want to risk putting the layers on too thick and not curing properly which can result in an allergy to gels. you're better off doing extra coats and making them super thin than doing less and making them thicker IMO. I prefer the gel to be thinner and more natural looking/feeling but some do prefer the thickness and just apply additional goats or gelish structure. Some of the ladies here do find that dry brushing the base coat does help with shrinkage in application, I font think it can hurt to try :). Good luck and I hope you get better results next time!!!
