Ferret I love it!!!

Any new updates on the Pro light from Ulta?? Someone is getting me a gift card and I Was thinking I might get it!! This sitting for 3 minutes over and over again is getting old fast!!!
I just bought the new one from Sally's, it is wonderful. 45 seconds is amazingly short when you are used to 3 mins.

Did anyone ever try the RC structure and know if it is just like the Gelish foundation or if it is more like Gelish Structure?

RCM foundation is the base gel. RCM doesnt have something thicker like the gelish structure at this point.

Seems pretty much just like the one from Ulta!! Have you done any of the dark colors yet with that light? I saw a review said that even doing 2 of the 45 sec cycles that it didn't work on the dark.

I totally plan on buying one, just not sure which yet. Guess it depends if I get a gift card from one of the or not! LOL I have a $10 off coupon from Sallys for my bday, so I gotta get something there anyhow! LOL

I bought the RCM pro kit at Ulta and have done two manicures with it. I love the way they look but I have been getting some tip wear/slight peeling on one of the nails after about 4 days, which is dissapointing. I have two questions:

1. In the instructions it says something about buffing to remove shine. I thought that buffing made nails shinier? Or at least with my buffer they usually do. So I skipped this step, but now I am wondering if that is why I am having probs with shorter wear

2. I have heard people refer to "dry swiping" on here- what exactly does this mean and will doing this help extend the manicure. Thanks!

I have wayward pinky nails that always would lift at the free edge. I use a bonder on the tips only to help with that. Gelish's pro bond or IBD bonder both work good for me. If you are only having problems with one mail maybe you have a similar issue like mine.

Before you order that though you might try buffing. I use a 320 grit yellow buffing block from Sally beauty just to remove the shine. Some buffers are meant to add shine though.

Also make sure when you are doing your prep that you are doing a dry prep. Don't wash your hands before a Mani. Make sure you cap you free edge well.

Just did manis with my daughter. She used black shadow with good gossip, I used bella's vamp with good gossip. Both came out fine, no need for extra curing time. Just used one 45 sec cycle per layer.

If your buffer is making your nails shinier, you are not doing yourself any adhesion favors. Buffing is definitely referring in this case to roughing up the nail just a bit. Usually most find it unnecessary. The number one tip I'd suggest is watching youtube videos on cuticle removal by fingernailfixer, a google search will find many great videos she has done, shellac, but similar issues. I think over two weeks a tiny bit of tip wear is normal. I do mean tiny though and dependent on how much housework I do. If I'm on vacation, I get none. Make sure you are dehydrating with an alcohol solution, no moisturizers or oils should be left on the nail. I don't soak my nails before a mani, but washing should pose no issue. At least that is my experience.

I'd also suggest doing a search over on the Gelish SOG thread for "lifting" because there's tons of info over there (and RCM and Gelish are bascially the same thing.)

If it's only one finger you might have an issue with that finger - damage to that nail, like a bend or peeling in your natural nail could cause lifting.

I just bought the red carpet manicure Professional LED light, the prep, top coat, base coat etc. Can I use the "gelish" polishes with these items or do I need to buy their brand products?

I think they are basically the same product. Gelish has the exact same led lamp at Sally's only it's white instead of black, and many of us cross lines with products. I use gelish base and top with everything.
