Nervous w anticipation is basically a dupe IMO. In the bottle it shows a pink tint but it goes on clear. I usually do 2 coats when I do a french mani and you don't see the tint (even if i put a layer over the white.) With 3 you might (??) see the hint of pink but I doubt it'd show much, if at all. Hth

Edit - sorry I just saw you already replied to FK!

That helps anyway, just confirms it. I've been thinking about maybe I want a bottle of 'clear' for glitter and what not. But only if I can get it cheap, lol - for sure I don't need a full-sized Gelish bottle of it. ;) Thanks.

It would be perfect for that...esp with a great Ulta coupon!

First of all I'm somewhat new to SOG and RCM. A friend of mine got an RCM system about a month and a half ago. She offered to do my nails and it worked REALLY well for me. My nail beds are very short and narrow and my nails generally break off near the quick, so it looks like I'm a biter. The RCM kept them from breaking and they've grown significantly. Then I had a Shellac manicure done in a salon (a birthday gift) and after my nails continued to grow so well and the polish stayed on so long I decided to take the plunge with my Christmas $ and buy the RCM system. I did buy the pro light and most of the steps from RCM (though I bought Acetone at Sally's and 91% Alcohol at Rite Aid). I started with only one polish (Simply Stunning) and I REALLY LOVE this system. I did my daughter's nails tonight and it went fairly quickly and everything turned out great. I'll be heading to Ulta soon to pick up a couple more colors.

My question is, how do you get a good french manicure since the steps are tacky after curing. Is the only option to freehand the tip?

I do my base color, then my tip color, the use an old eyeshadow brush slightly dampened with alcohol to clean up the smile line.

I use the portable gelish lights. I've got both the one that runs on battery or adapter, and the curved one that cures in 45 secs. Both work well. Love the quicker cure time, tho. Yes, the one that runs on batteries is good for travel, but use a fresh set of batteries for each manicure. Dunno which one exactly you are referring to, but the gelish ones and the rcm ones are considered to be quite similar, if not actually the same - except for the color. HTH

Thanks! Good to know.

You are soooo bad!! I'll just say this - you never know what will be in the swap box so I'd really encourage you to wait on purchasing any more colors until after you get the box. :smile1:

Oh, I am, I am. But it doesn't mean I'm not planning ahead for after the swap box! I probably wouldn't be willing to trade anything I have for that anyway, rather be watching for it to be on sale or get it with a coupon. :-) Maybe. Ha ha. It's ferret's fault - she needs to stop posting all those pigments and things.

She's been responsible for emptying more than one wallet. She inspires wish lists, and turns the wants into must-haves. She's like that little voice of temptation on the shoulder. ("See it shimmer, love the glitter? Ooooh, the shine! It's OK, go ahead and buy 100 bottles of polish, it's not too many, I have even more than that, wanna see which colors you are missing?" At this point I see her whipping open her trench coat lined on the inside with every color and brand of sog imaginable.) And yet, we love her for it.

You guys crack me up. FLmermaid, my SOG-love has also turned me into a long term planner. And by long, I mean: If I stick to my diet of 2 SOGs a month, I guess I'm now planning my 2014 shopping :push:

I too blame Ferret's talent & magnificent pictures for turning me into a very blingy magpie, but a more confident person too! :D

ladies, any tips to help with "shrinkage"? When my nails are completely done on the sides of my nails I can see the natural nail color coming though! But when I apply it I make sure its fully covered....

This was also just talked about in the last page or two of the gelish thread, do that info might help too.

I also think it's just easier to paint the tip right on and fix any goofs if needed. But you can also remove the tacky layer at that point and use a guide stuck to the nail or really any other method, I believe at this point. Some have had luck with the glue on white tips applied under the entire SOG mani also. There is a thread on these also. Some have also used a konad stamp with regular polish and had good luck with that...
