Horrible mess as lint and sticky all together...goopy. I will try a brush.

I know 8 coats is a lot, but I need the thickness/strength (like you said somewhere). My Sally's does not have Structure, or the sales people do not know what it is, so I will have to get it online. I will just bulk up till then!

I think you will definitely avoid the linty issues by using a clean brush. Plus i think it's probably easier to just lightly wipe the tacky layer with a brush than with a wipe.

For me Personally, 8 coats would be way too much. Yes, I like the added strength, but I find if I have more than 5 coats (base, 2-3 color, 1 coat of structure if only 2 color coats, topcoat) is plenty. Any more than that and the gel polish loses it's flexibility. Then I find if I bang a nail it'll just break, rather than having a little bit of give.

The key though is finding what works for you, and if that' works for you, then go for it! :)

What kind of horrible mess? biggest problem is actually getting any type of lint free wipe that really is lint free, so if that's what you're talking about, then yes. IBD makes sponges, I have spa necessities nail wipes that are not too bad for this purpose a plain paper towel might work, I have not tried that. I also just bought a pack of makeup sponge applicators to try out next time!

I've wiped with an alcohol soaked wipe, which helps cut down on the lint. I bought a cheap pack of triangle makeup sponges, like 30 for $2 or so and tried using one tonight for sticky removal. It worked really well and no lint. I can't remember where I bought them, though! I know a brush is recommended and will not lint, it will not remove as much either. I have not tried just dry brushing before a troublesome color yet, so couldn't say whether it works as well as wiping most all of the tacky off or not....

Hey everyone, did my first RCM mani yesterday with Love those Baby Blues, and I had BAD shrinkage on my right hand. Not only from tip, but from cuticule margin. It looks awful!! This is a light color, too!!

Anyone else had this? Also, I did try to dry swipe after foundation (Gelish) with a lint free wipe, and it turned into a horrible mess!! Should I use a dry brush instead? I only did a few and gave up, so maybe that is why I had shrinkage.

Are you having better luck with RCM now? I have been using Gelish but was wanting to try RCM b/c it's cheaper and you get more! I really want to buy the black but if the product is inferior then I will stick to Gelish...what do you guys think?

I think, at least as far as the colors go, it's identical.

RCM is the same size as the gelish minis, so not sure what you mean by getting more. It works fine for me. I have 5 or 6 RCM colors.

I do think they are the same size, but with RCM there are more colors available in store (you can order Gelish online in other colors, but Sally's just carries the basics regularly).

I am having better luck with it, now. I think it was just personal trial and error. Dry swiping with a brush does help with the shrinkage. I think as a product RCM and Gelish are nearly the same. HTH

Great! I am going to make a trip to Ulta tomorrow to get some! Hope they have the colors I want! This forum is so helpful and you ladies are all so great!

Happy shopping! Let us know what you get :). Remember to check the brushes before leaving the store. Some of the early RCM brushes were wonky (crooked, spayed or missing).

Thanks for posting the colors! Do you think that if I mixed Gelish Midnight Caller with RCM Black Stretch Limo that I would achieve RCM The Night is Young? It kind of looks like it from the photo and I don't want to buy it if I can make something similar with colors I already have (also it's kind of fun!). ;)

Probably something pretty close - add TEENY amounts of black at a time if you try, like not even a drop. Maybe a dab on the end of a toothpick.

But I have to tell you that I have The Night Is Young, and it's one of my very favs. ;)

Definitely worth trying! If you mix in something like a cheap contact lens case, you can save any extra for later.
