Thanks for the respone :) I have been doing the gel manicures for over a year now and i love them!! I started with shellac, then added gelish and i have a few RCM colors but i am not thrilled with them. i was really hoping for more exciting colors but a lot of them seem to be dupes for gelish. I did not know that the pro light had finally come out tho. i keep checking at Ulta when i am there but i never see them. good to know i should keep looking. i have been wanting to try an led light to help speed up the process but i am not willing to spend $100+ just to save a little time. I am really really hard on my nails so i never get 3 weeks out of a manicure tho. i was thinking it was my technique but i did my moms nails a couple of times and she can get 3+ weeks before i make her take it off (the growth is shameful but she never seems to care). Thanks for the info about the light :)

I posted another post too, which you probably already read, but just in case. The Red Carpet Pro45 LED is only $49.99, plus has a 20% off coupon right now...but read my other post too! More details there

Yes, for now you can only get it online (Pro 45 LED). There was no report date for the stores getting it in. I spent the $49.99 and if you use the 20% off coupon, you cannot beat the price! ...and it cures in a 45 seconds or less for each coat. My friend works at a bank and jams her nails all day into vaults, pile of coins, and you name it. She is shocked 7 days and Zero chips. Hers is already at her house. Please make sure you use all of the steps and coats. Some folks have oily nails and do not know it, then wonder why it comes off. Use the purify, sanitizer/adhesive, basecoat, whatever polishes, top coat, and then rub with the purify again to remove the tacky. I have watched a couple of youtube reviews, and I swear, they do not get it. How can they expect the product to work when they skip half of the step. I am excited for you. I cannot imagine a better investment. I more fear getting the stuff off than keeping it on. Prior to every other polish brand destroyed my nails. This is the first time ever that my nails are long. I hope to see your reply one-day soon, telling me just how fabulous Red Carpet is!!! Love your nails!!!

Are you sure your not a salesman for RCM? :graucho: If you read through this thread and the other soak off gel threads on this forum, you see just how many of us love the SOG products.

Most of us here are DIYers, and many of us have been doing our nails for a while. There is some trial and error to it, and not everything works for every person the same. Some use a regular basecoat under their SOG polishes to make removal easier, others use a bonder as well as just a dehydrator, many of us layer colors and mix up our own creations with glitter and pigments, and even sandwich regular nail polish.

Well, as it is obviously apparent, I am a newby. Everything prior destroyed my nails...and that is not an exaggeration. Once I ended up in the docs office from a manicure. I was so excited when I used this and my nails didn't split and peel or cause them to go paperthin. That is why I followed the directions to the "t". I can imagine everyone has their own nail types, system, and agenda. It has just been such a great experience for me after all the ugly, that I am thrilled to share it...and confused when those that do not follow the protocal, wonder why it's not working for them. Maybe, there are other newbies out there just like me...an more importantly, you all will more than likely teach me lots about nails!

Welcome, though I have to say that the thought did cross my mind that you sounded like a RCM sales person based on your glowing recommendation. You're kinda preaching to the choir here as we are mostly having great success with one system or another as Ferretkingdom pointed out already. I agree with you that people should buy a system and use it as directed prior to messing around to see what else might work. It's kinda the same way I feel when I read recipe reviews and people post a review after stating they changed this and this and this...In some ways I find it terribly annoying and in other ways it sometimes gives me ideas. Same with the nails, reader/experimenter beware. You should understand your system and use it as directed then make changes to suit.

I will say that most people can use most gel systems without any buffing of the natural nail at all. This claim is what led me to try Shellac first, but i then realized that Gelish, Geleration, Orly, Eco, Artistic Colour Gloss, Gia, Nailite and probably others all perform somewhat similarly, and while their official directions suggest a light buff of the natural nail, many of us find it completely unnecessary. The only way to get to know them is to use them, you will also find that your experience may not be the same as someone else's experiences. You should read through some of the postings backwards, I think you'll be interested in some of the experiments we've already been trying :)

RCM Simply Stunning. A nice nude with some shimmer. shimmer does not show up well on camera, but it's a pinkish tint shimmer/flash

Thanks, I really like the RCM formula more than I thought I would. Thin, goes on like polish. Also, the colors I have tried give good coverage in 2 coats. I always use a 36 watt tunnel light to cure.

Hi,

I'm so new at this and before buying, I would need some experts to help me out.
first, does this make your nails "weak" when you take if off?
can you use regular nail polish with the lamp? if not, can you do your nails with their nail polish then add some color on top but with regular nail polish 6 ( I hope I'm clear..).
Would you recommend this type of manicure or would you suggest I stick to regular nail polish?
Thanks

If you are removing it properly (soaking off, carefully pushing off the polish, not peeling it off, etc) then it won't damage your nails. Mine are much stronger for using the SOG's. They rarely peel anymore, and are much longer than I've ever been able to keep them.

Regular nail polish doesn't have the photoinitiators in it that UV gel does, so a UV light won't dry it. Some have successfully "sandwiched" regular nail polish between SOG base and topcoat, but you have to make sure the regular nail polish is COMPLETELY dry or the topcoat won't cure correctly. Alternatively, you can put regular nail polish over top of a SOG manicure and remove it with non-acetone remover, leaving the SOG mani intact underneath.

Thanks for the information, it is very helpful:)

I loved your post so much I ran out and bought it yesterday. Wanted a great light neutral with full coverage (I don't like when you can see through the light colors) and it worked great. I will say it goes better with your skin tone than mine, but I still like it!
