Ellie from RCM has been kind enough to email back and forth with me. She said that the LED lights should be lasting 3 years. If that's not happening then she said she would help with a replacement. She's also looking into the little 36 printed on the label (I was curious as to the official explanation). Apparently, she's not aware of what it means and contacted her boss for clarification. It'll be hysterical if the DIYer's knew the product better than the company!!

I believe the little number printed on the label is supposed to be how long the polish us good after its opened if properly stored, so 36 months?

I just recently started seeing Red Carpet Manicure products at my local Target, a small selection compared to my local Ulta but perhaps they are just beginning to stock RCM.

oh yay! hope they stock them at my target! maybe they'll actually maintain good stock levels...my ulta only has like 1 or 2 bottles of colors and they're always the messed up used ones that people opened to paint onto the display to see the color...so annoying. Was the price any cheaper?

Wow, on the light. They'll be replacing everybody's, lol.

Yes, that's exactly right. The number of months after opening. And she can check with her boss, but it's a beauty industry thing ... not an RCM thing or even a polish thing. You'll find it on other products as well.

I had read some previous posts here about the number probably being an expiration date. Probably one of your posts FLmermaid and Ferretkingdom! The troublemaker in me is testing RCM to see if they know what they're doing (as I have nothing else to do at the moment). I had no idea is was a beauty industry procedure. It will be interesting to see how they reply. :graucho:

Totally new here and was hoping that someone wopuld have some advice. I have the RC set and some gelish colors that I have used interchangeably with no issues. But the last couple times I did my nails ( used RC Structure and cured for 45 sec, then did a color coat ( one time RC My inspiration and the other time was Gelish Bella's Vampire) and it looked like the color coat receded away from the tips of my nails. I had to do a thicker 2nd coat to get the tips covered. I've never had this happen before and it was a decent amount of shrinkage . I hope I'm explaining it right. I've tried searching for answers to this but it pulls up more answers about wrinkling on the nails then what I'm really talking about. It stinks cause its causing me to get less then a week out of my nails and breakage.
Could my Structure be getting old? the light ? I received the set in November. I've used these colors before without issues in the past.

Usually this happens when your base coat is to thick. On your next mani try to make the coats as thin as possible and also you can use a dry gel brush and brush over the cured base before applying color that helps with shrinkage as well :)

Lots of the darker colors shrink back. Keep your coats thin. If dry brushing doesn't help or it shrinks back really badly you can flash cure each finger for a few seconds before you go on to the next to help it stay. Tedious but it works.

I've heard of this happening with this color (Bella's Vampire) even though I've never tried it myself. I've also had this issue with Gelish's "A Runway for the Money" and 1 OPI gelcolor so far. It's something in the formula itself.

There's a video of a girl applying your color on youtube, and I always thought it showed some very helpful techniques if you have problem polishes like this. She goes through "dry brushing", and she caps the edges and brushes over the free edges of her nails just before curing to try to counteract the "shrinking". Her video's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow1Wn7PKpVM

Got a Konad Stamping kit guys so can't wait to try it out. I did give it a go with a leopard print plate it came with but it didn't cover my whole nail :-(

Has anyone used Gelish Vitagel with their RCM? I'm thinking of getting that to strenghten my nails. I take it I just use that as the base instead of the RCM base.

There is a lot of talk about in the Gelish thread with mixed reviews I used it on last mani and this one but in between color coats because most haven't had very good luck using it as a base coat. And it does seem to strengthen while wearing but after its soaked off my nails are the same as they are on their own.

Thanks for the info I'll probably give it a miss then.
