Still love doing my own gel polish. I have added a few Gelish colors and a Sally Hansen SOG (mudslide) to my collection. Recently bought RCM Wow. It's a fine gold glitter in a clear base. Looks great over an opaque color like Mudslide or RCM Thank you, Thank you. I was wearing a thank you, thank you and didn't want to do a removal and full mani. Added one coat of Wow and it gave it a fresh new look. My younger daughter has been amazed when she watches me remove the final tacky layer and end up with a glossy totally dried perfect mani.

I have a dear, sweet, nervous friend. I like to do her nails for her. She always gasps and cringes when I pick up a wipe and start wiping off the tacky layer as soon as it comes out from under the lamp. She just can't get used to the idea that it won't ruin the mani when you touch it.

My aunt does the same, always cringes when I make her scrub her nails with a nail brush after I've finished her mani.

Hi ladies

I have RCM structure (base) and a new CND lamp. I used to cure the RCM in my Sensationail lamp for 30 seconds with no problems.

Recently, I cured the RCM structure in the CND lamp for 1 minute as instructed on the bottle as per the uv timing instructions but I had a really difficult removal (1hr per hand).

My question is if using the CND light which is powerful, should I reduce the RCM base coat curing time to 30 seconds? I feel 1 minute was far too long. For those of you that use Gelish or RCM base and the CND lamp could you tell me how long you cured it please.

I no longer have my Sensationail lamp as the lights dimmed and it stopped curing properly so I took it back and got a refund yesterday (lamp was purchased in July so lasted 7 months)!!

Thanks for any replies.

I haven noticed any difference in removal with my RCM base whether I use my led or UV light and when using the cnd light I also cure for 1 minute, but I guess that could differ from person to person.

I use gelish base but the cure time for it is 1 minute in a UV lamp and that's what I use on my CND lamp. Never have any removal issues. I don't know what the cure time for rcm base is in a UV lamp, but if it says 1 minute I wouldn't shorten it.

I know exactly what you mean - I was totally amazed when I saw it done for the first time on my own nails. I'm still totally amazed every time I do it myself. Fun!

Thanks for the reply!!

On my own nails I use Shellac base but found that on me it doesn't play well with IBD colours (whereas RCM works with my OPI, Gelish, Orly and RCM colours) it chipped terribly after 3 days, it was so bad I removed the mani at day 6!!!! On my sister the shellac base and IBD colour peeled off in two days, whereas my mum got the full two weeks with shellac base, colour and top.

I will test out RCM base again curing for 1 minute (but just on one finger) to see if the difficult removal was a fluke.

Thanks again

I think you are right! It says 1 minute so I won't shorten.

After I have carried out my one finger test I'll know for sure whether to use it again.

I'll buy the OPI base coat seeing as I have 13 OPI colours and intend to get more as I find they wear well, soak off easily (despite shrink back of some colours which I can live with) coat well with two coats and have amazing colours to choose from. :smile1:

Thanks so much for replying, as this had me stumped and I never want another difficult soak off like that again, I was traumatised!!

Do you use any sort of bonder or anything?

No, not anymore. In the past I've used RCM Max Adhesion but I will NEVER EVER use it again. Infact, the base coat acted like I had used the bonder after curing in the cnd lamp. It was stuck like glue!!!

At the moment I have the Sensationail primer on the very tips of my nails as my last manicure only lasted 6 days and I want to last 14 days before soaking off again.

I'll be filing down the length of my nails for my next mani so if I encounter any issues on the tips it won't be a problem

:D

I'm having trouble finding a deep vampy red and a light pink nude. Any suggestions?

It looks like Candid Moment is too light for the pink. Do they even have a vampy red without shimmer? I keep looking through this post and not seeing what I want.

I'm still loving using RCM on my nails - it lasts so much better than regular polish for me. I wore Toast of the Town last week, but just took it off last night. I'll probably redo my manicure this evening.

Hi! I just recently got hooked onto gel polish , first using the sensationail kit and now am collecting gelish and RCM colors. There was a Facebook post today about 22 colors being launched soon! Cant wait!

Also I work in midtown NYC and noticed a couple of Duane Reads had a few RCM polishes for half price. Fake bake, toast of the town , take a bow and midnight affair were only 4.99 ! They dont carry any of the newer colors as far as I can tell.
