I was at Fred Meyer today and they have select RCM 'discontinued' colors for 50% off. I picked up Midnight Affair (my Fred Meyer's has been picked over for quite some time but they had a lot of colors on sale!) Wonder if they're getting new colors or just getting rid of things since most brands have huge sections of 'last chance' stickers! Hope someone else can benefit ; )

Supposedly new colors coming up I think.

I just purchased a RCM LED pro light. Does anyone know (or had experience) with the number of hours it's supposed to work? I read 5,000 hours somewhere but that sounds like a huge number. Also, the website mentions a limited warranty but I can't find out the terms. Anyone know?

All the LED lamps do quote really big numbers ... way more hours than any of us that are DIYers have had a chance to get to or really that the lamps have been available. Like, they should last for years. But there's been a number of reports of the RCM/Gelish Pro lights starting to show performance problems in what seems like the 6-9 month range. And that's for a DIY user. So they don't seem to be living up to anywhere close to it. Even if you did a mani every week and called it an hour, that's like a paltry 25 - 40 hours! I've had mine since April and I don't think it's working as well already. I only use it occasionally and only with the product it's designed for or swatches.

IDK about the warranty tho - I didn't even look at mine. So hopefully someone else will know.

I got some colors on clearance at Fred Meyer............You like me, You really like me, And the Winner is, and The night is young. They were around $5 each and there was some other colors on clearance too. It's not a taupe, Plum up the volume, Black Stretch Limo and Lighter shade of grey. There might have been a few more as well.

I emailed RCM and no reply. I Facebooked and hope for a reply on the LED light and limited warranty issue. My husband had an interesting thought. LED is supposed to be very hardy and last a LONG time. So, we'll see what they say. Gosh I love these little smilies........

I just heard back from RCM. The limited warranty is for one year. I'm going to hold on to my receipt just in case.

Hi guys. An update on my troubles removing my RCM polish. I followed the tips here about applying heat and stuff but still no joy. As my Erase was running low I just bough a big bottle of pure acetone and some lint free pads and a roll of extra strong foil. I found removal much easier than using the Erase and the RCM removal kit.

Secondly. I have some questions for you guys.

Stamping Question: For those who have successfully done Konad stamping with their RCM did you use the Konad nail polish or RCM polish? If you make a mistake can you just wipe it off without ruining your colour coats? Did you have any issues with the stamped design wiping off when you applied brilliance? I'm going to buy some stamping stuff but just wanna check some things first.

I have used Konad in the past with not very good results. I had a little tiny trial kit stamper that came with white polish. It was ok but not perfect and when I applied top coat it messed up the design. This was only ever tried on normal nail polish not RCM.

Nail swatch question: I bought some of those plastic nail things so I can swatch some colours and practice nail art and my ideas before attempting it on myself. Do I need to rough up the surface of the plastic first? Also is it necessary to apply base coat or can I just go straight in with my colours and art and cure?

Thanks guys for any advice, you are wonderful here. Especially the person who gave me so many tips about getting my RCM to last. Now it lasts 2 weeks and more!

You do not need base coat when color swatching. The base coat bonds the polish to the keratin protein of the nail. There is no keratin protein on a plastic swatch. I've done swatches without it, it works fine.

I don't stamp, but I believe the girls that do say SOGP doesn't work well, and they all use RNP. Have you tried a search on stamping?

Just slap color and top coat on your swatches and wipe off the sticky later ...... you don't need to do anything else.
