I don’t think you should buy it in hopes of making your SA happy or not upsetting her. Only buy it if you want to buy it now. It seems that you have already spent what you feel comfortable with, and I recommend buying it at another time

Ladies, I need some advice/input on what I should do in this particular situation. So I finally got offered my second quota bag last week. I waited for over 8 months for my second bag offer and already spent over $25k+ after my 1st bag offer (and my pre-spend on the 1st bag is also over 2:1). However, when I went to my appointment to pick up my bag, my SA tried really hard to talk me into buying a fine jewelry piece that costs over half of a B30. She seemed really disappointed when I said I need to think about it and that it might have to wait until next year because I’ve been spending way too much this year especially lately.

Even though she’s been slow in offering me bags, she hadn’t really pushed me hard to buy things. Maybe it was because every time I go visit I buy a lot? But this time I felt she really wanted me to buy that piece of jewelry for some reason. And I read somewhere that it could be a sign that the SA really needs help with that particular category to achieve her monthly sales goal or something along that line.

Honestly I think I’ll get that piece sooner or later, but I would rather give myself a break for now, unless getting it now is going to help her achieve her sales goal and make her happy, and hopefully lead to a bag offer in January maybe? I’m not sure if my store ‘zeros out‘ purchase history and wants clients to do another round of pre-spend in a new calendar year. I know what many of you have experienced is that once you are considered an establish and loyal client and have been offered a few bags, you don’t have to spend that much in a new year to be offered a bag because they look at how much you’ve spent in previous years. I don’t know how true this is with my store so I’m hesitsnt.

Please advise what would be the best way to handle this situation because the last thing I want to is to upset my SA. TIA!

Thanks for your reply. I probably didn’t make myself clear, but not preferring to buy it now is not really a financially based decision. It has more to do with wanting to spend the money next year to make sure that it counts toward next year’s pre-spend for my bag offer. I’m definitely no longer in desperate need to please my SA, but if I can help her accomplish her sales goal if she does have one, and that purchase can be considered when it comes time to offer bags next year, then I don’t mind buying it now.

If you don't have a financial restraint + you actually like the ring, then I'd buy it now. I'm sure she would really appreciate it and you may (not guaranteed) receive a "better" offer in the upcoming year! To put in perspective, I've spent maybe around 20% of what I usually do and I've already used both my quota this year. I'm sure my previous years spending was taken into consideration for this year.

I don't think you should buy it if you don't feel 100% comfortable with the purchase. Also, I'm sure you've already helped her achieved a lot of sales goals

Thank you. I believe you’ve been an established and great client for quite a while. In your experience did you have to spend a decent amount to get quota bag offers every year? Would you say this year is an anomaly? I know I’ll probably end up buying a lot next year anyway, but I’m trying to learn to pace myself unless this purchase would make a huge difference to my SA. But I was just reminded that today is the last day of September so whatever sale goal my SA had it probably wouldn’t matter if I go buy it tomorrow...

Hi experienced H veterans!

Newbie here! Just entered the slippery slope of the H realm for merely 3 months. I was wondering if anyone know how inventory is split between SAs for rarer items asides from BKC. For example rodeos - so I’ve been asking my SA to watch out for rodeos for me as I’m interested in getting one - especially one in a specific CW for a while now.

I know a girl on IG that also goes to the same boutique as me but has a different SA. Seems like she was able to get the exact same rodeo I had previously asked for.

I was wondering if anyone had an idea how splitting of inventory works? Or would it be more based on how long the client has been with the store/maybe she’s asked/waited longer than me or the relationship with the SA overall? From the sounds of her post it just so seems that the SA thought of her when the rodeo came in so I can’t say for sure whether she had previously requested it or not either. I know there may be many factors involved, but just also wondering if there is a process on how they split inventory.

Thank you!
Not sure if someone has answered your question, but based on what I have seen in the past (sometimes I was at the boutique right when they opened shipment like rodeos) my store splits highly sort after charms between SAs and the SAs decide who get what. For example, at the time the black PM was in demand. There was one week each SA had to choose between one all-black PM or two shopping bags. So someone else at your boutique getting the exact rodeo you desire is very likely a situation that her SA remembers and tries to get the rodeos assigned to her so she can sell them to her clients.

Sometimes you just need to be there at the right time (I know, it's hard now that it's the pandemic). In the past when SAs were in good mood, they just showed me all new rodeos they received (but nothing fancy). One SA (not my SA) even suggested I take a rooroo she set aside for her client (perhaps she thinks her client may decline it?) It could all be random.

You may keep reminding your SA and you will get yours.

THIS! I am relatively new to Hermes, but I witnessed this first hand today when I visited the boutique. My SA said highly sought after items are split amongst the SAs. For example, highly sought after handbags or rodeos cannot be "hogged" by one SA even if said SA has a long list of people who want the bag/rodeo/etc. So once it's split, it's easier for the SA to sell it quickly to a walk in customer than look through his/her wishlist waitlist. I think if you have a REALLY good relationship with your SA, he or she will keep you in mind when your desired item comes in. Otherwise, it's just easier for them to make a quick sale to a walk in customer than hold the item until the customer comes in. HTH!

Another question that I was just curious about. For all intent and purposes, is being offered and placing a SO similar to a quota bag offer in the sense that there would be a time period you would have to wait receive a regular Birkin and/or Kelly offer? or have there been examples where people have received a B/K offer in fairly quick succession either before or after your SO placement.

No. I typically place my SO in the same appointment as picking up my semi annual quota bag. But as always, things will vary widely depending on store, region, SA, and client profile.
