For those of you whose husband has a separate profile, do you and your husband shop with the same SA And are you using the same address?

My spent this year has been more than 2:1 for my two quota bags already and I’m still waiting to be offered my 2nd quota bag. I know, it’s a very sad story... So I told my SA that I’d like my husband to set up his profile because I’ll keep buying stuff for the rest of the year and I’d like those purchases to lead to another quota bag. But I was told that the SM recently decided not to allow spouses to establish a separate profile anymore and that a separate profile in the same household will be hard to get a quota bag.

Has anyone else in the US heard about this change? Or is it just my store’s individual decision? I found it a little hard to understand. It almost sounds like the SM would rather that you take your business elsewhere once you’ve got your two quota bags but would like to get more quota bags and are willing to spend more.

The 1:1 is not a ‘rule’ in the USA but more of a guideline that us H fans have observed as the point where offers start to get more likely. Just because one has spent 10k, doesn’t mean they will automatically be offered a bag and to shut your profile down at that point isn’t how H wants this to work. This should all be way more natural than that. And your profile doesn’t vanish after you buy a bag. It’s a long term on-going relationship where you’re supposed to love the brand and shop often and then once in a while be offered a B/K to supplement your other purchases. If you spend 100,000 in 2020 and get two quota bags, you’d likely only need to go in for a scarf in January 2021 to go home with a third bag, for example. In fact, my husband recently looked over the shoulder of my SA as they had my profile up on their iPad and at the bottom is a total historical spend amount as one of the only summations on the page. The SM isn’t declining this idea because they don’t want sales, they’re declining it because a mandatory 1:1 between bag sales is not a real thing in the USA so there is no reason in their mind as to why you should need another profile.

To answer your original question though, I never understood why one would set up two profiles at the same store, especially if you’re still waiting for a quota bag on the first one. You’d essentially be in competition with yourself in a store that is already showing not have the bag that you seek (or even worse, not offering it to you specifically). Plus, again, this isn’t JUST a numbers game, no matter how much everyone wants to reduce this process to such. There is also a large human element here and if I’m an SA with two clients that I like and want to keep happy, but the first hasn’t gotten any bags this year and the second is hoping to get her third bag by using a supplemental profile...well I’m sorry but I’m probably going to be submitting the referral for the first person, even if their spend is significantly lower.

My strongest recommendation is to continue with one profile and slow your spending until you get the quota bag, but don’t entirely stop. Buy things that are seasonal and will be missed if you wait, but try to push off things that will still be there next year, to next year, or until after your bag arrives. If you’re set on chasing a third quota bag in 2020 in the USA, then I recommend going to a different store with a different SA under a different profile name, address, and credit card number and hope that the two don’t discover one another as that tends to lead to bad feelings of lost sales. Good luck.

My husband has a separate profile but it was because he wanted one for himself and not an attempt to try to get more quota bags for me. He comes and shops with me about half the time, but he likes the H products himself and does work with our SA on his own and has his own relationship. He has traditionally purchased items for himself, like a watch. Sometimes things for us to enjoy together, like housewares. And sometimes he has picked up a few small gifts that our SA has recommended that he thinks I would like. My husband said that it was the easiest anniversary gift this year because my SA knew exactly what I would like.. and he was exactly right. I will say our SA has been pushing my husband a bit more since I received both of my quota bags (fortunately), but the end game for us is not necessarily how many B/K we can stack up in one year. We just trust and follow our SA lead while buying things we love and want regardless.

I think what’s bad here is you made it very obvious to your SA and SM that you are there for the quota bags...I know that you probably love and enjoy the other stuff you purchase but this definitely can read as “I need all my purchases to count towards a quota bag”. Remember how the whole point is they want customers who enjoy all things H and are not just there for the Bs and Ks...depending on how your SA/SM think I feel like you may have misstepped a little when you went a little too blunt here.

Sure we know in many places the practice is that the spouse will use their profile to get their lady extra bags but I get the feeling that even if this happens at your store, your SA/SM does not appreciate it being mentioned directly like so. Sounds like they prefer ...let’s say subtlety if you know what I mean. We always need to keep in mind that everyone is human with different personalities / styles, and can vary greatly in terms of how direct / genuine / welcoming they are towards the whole H game. Finally it’s entirely possible that they just don’t have the bags you requested for you and you just have to be patient - if so why not just ease off a little? Don’t be pressured into buying anything & wait  still plenty of time left in 2020 and definitely some places tend to have more bags end of the year!

I also suggest that you don’t start a new profile in another store unless you make sure it can’t be linked with you, it’s definitely possible under your DH! If you are set on wanting more bags and able to do so then I’d say that’s your option.

Thank you so much for your reply! As someone who just entered the H world (in a serious and committed manner) a little over a year ago, I’ve learned a lot from reading your posts throughout the forum.

I know the 1:1 is just a rough guidance. Some lucky ladies got their offers before reaching that spend ratio, and there are not so lucky ones like me who got no offers last year after reaching 1:1. But I was told that the total spend during one calendar year gets zeroed out even if you don’t get any offers? so I assumed that no matter how much more I‘ll spend the rest of this year, I’ll have to pretty much start from scratch again and spend enough to be offered a bag again next year.

But in regards to the scenario that you described, if I am an SA with two different types of clients: one has a low spend without any bag offer yet and I can tell that she’s only willing to spend just enough to get a bag and only have budget for 1 bag each year, and another client who’s got two bags already but has spent 5 times more and is willing to spend more, I’m not sure I’d favor the former more. I don’t buy other H products just to get B/K, I buy what I love and enjoy, but as someone who just started collecting B/K, I’d love to quickly build up my starter collection with a couple of bags that I can enjoy now.

I guess in the end it really depends on the SA and SM. A friend‘s SA actually brought up the idea of having her husband set up a profile after she reached her quota, so she can get more bags... and she’s also one of the lucky ones who got offered a bag way before she reached the 1:1 ratio.

Who told you this? A current H employee? In the United States? If that were the case, how would anyone get a bag in January? If your SA/SM directly told you that, with no room for having misunderstood, then I recommend packing up and moving your business to a different USA store completely because that is pretty unfortunate and unique.
As a personal example, I have received three quota bags this year, all size 25, and outside of bag purchases have not spent even close to 10k on other items in 2020. Across two stores. But I am a multi year regular client at both.

Thank you so much for your reply. I know each SA has different personality and communication style preference, and I chose to become direct and transparent based on our interactions. I think the fact that I’m basically at 3:1 spend ratio on my 1st offer and waiting for my 2nd offer with 2:1 spend should have proved to my SA that I’m not buying just to get a quota bag or ‘I need all My purchases to count towards a quota bag‘. I want to establish a good and longtime relationship, and I’ve enjoyed all my purchases, but for someone like me who wants to quickly build up a starter collection, if I can somehow manage to get more than 2 a year that would be wonderful. If traveling wasn’t an issue, I’d have had a lot more options to achieve that goal, but I’m not even optimistic about safe travel in 2021...

It was my understanding based on some posts I read somewhere a while ago and also what some of my H loving friends told me. I did get a bag in January, but that was after I bought a $20K watch... My SA didn’t give me any hope/promise that I’d get a bag anytime soon this year even though I didn’t get any offer last year with my $10k spend. Then while I was browsing a few diamond watches she hinted that if I get a watch it would greatly increase my chance of getting a bag soon... I love my watch but I guess I could have bought it at a different time..

I hope a few years now I can be as lucky as you are, getting bag offers with little spend... although knowing myself I doubt if I can keep my spend low

Tough love time...if you’ve spent 50,000 with one SA in one store within essentially one year, and only have an ebene K32 offer to show for it (and have directly been told ‘no’ for a special order) I would guess that your SA can sense your desperation and is vastly taking advantage of you. I’m assuming your SA also does not know about the purchases you’ve been making on the secondary market as I would guess that would motivate her even less to offer directly (‘she doesn’t need bags from my allotment since she just gets them elsewhere’). I think you need to either accept that your SA is playing with you and continue on hoping she’ll offer you again at some point, or stop buying (with perhaps the exception of a Twilly here and there to make the store appointment) until another bag offer is made, or switch stores altogether. I would certainly not even consider sinking more money into this store under a second account given they haven’t even maxed out offers on your first account yet. JMHO. Good luck.

Thanks again for your input. I’m surprised that you remember what I got offered and what I got for reseller:tup: Maybe I‘m one of those said stories that really stand out... Several of my H friends have suggested that I switch SA/store, but sadly I don’t have any other local or nearby store to switch to, and at this point I’ve spent probably too much to switch. But I was finally promised a second bag this year so that’s some progress. I asked about getting an SO several times and was told probably next year... so not a definite no but doesn‘t sound promising for sure. I do hope that I’m not being taken advantage of and that I was just having a bumpy start on my H journey.

Is there a store near enough to at least try a new relationship? Your spend even elsewhere would make you a valuable acquisition.

I think for this year I definitely won’t try to start a new relationship in any other store in the same country considering how much i‘ve spent in my current store and my SA did promised me a second bag for sure. Theres no store nearby within driving distance and I do prefer in person shopping experience. So if I get better luck in the next few months and hopefully early next year then I think I’ll stick to my local store. Of course once normal and safe travel resumes I’ll explore opportunities in other countries for sure. For now, I’m struggling really hard to slow down my purchase and be patient.

My husband did the same, he saw the total amount of my spending in Europe, excluding Switzerland and USA - where I also have purchases and have got bags - 2 in Switzerland and 2 in Los Angeles. He wanted to buy a bag for me and didn’t have history so he requested an appointment in Paris and was offered to do a special order for a Kelly, which was ready in 3 months later. He is now trying to buy a bag for his mother. He asked in the boutique where they know me and where I bought 3 Bs and was told by my SA that they prefer to sell one to my account

I was told in Europe that I have right to one K and one B per year.
In FSH Paris I was buying some shoes and I asked about the bag after I payed for the shoes/so the saw my account - I have been buying bags, scarves and belts, nothing exotic all over Europe / and immediately got appointment with the bag person/ I didn’t have relationship in Paris/ so they asked what bag I wanted. I said I wanted a Kelly in etoupe, sellier 32 and I was offered exactly this bag, but 28.
