PurseBlog Article: Traveling with Your Hermès Bag

I'm in Texas and have Farmers now. But years ago when I was with State Farm, I left my Gucci hobo in the cart at Sam's and they replaced the bag, my wallet, cash that I had on me, everything. I also had an LV bag stolen in New Orleans and Farmers did the same, even paid for my makeup and perfume. I'm surprised they told you that. In my experience, your homeowner's policy follows you and covers personal items.
Thank you so much for sharing. I’ll give them another call!

Great article!

Like many others, I too do the "bag within a bag" option when traveling (though I love the term "purseducken" more). I typically carry a Halzan inside of a Longchamp LePliage. The larger tote allows me to carry snacks, scarf, iPad for reading, and various other travel necessities, and the Halzan stays protected inside until I reach my destination. I find the Halzan to be a super practical travel bag as well, with its many pockets and versatile carrying options.

I haven't tried putting a B or K inside my LePliage or a backpack, but may try it for my next trip!

Daypack sounds like a great idea, and better than when I used my H purse’s dustbag for its run on TSA rollers and under-seat airplane storage—which raises my question: Do you fit this packed daypack under the seat in front of you?
It will fit, but I have also traveled with it on my seat buckled in with me - I usually travel with K25 or B25. Throw a shawl or blanket over my legs and no one can tell! For long trips we do business class, though.

Just wanted to add that I appreciate everyone’s traveling options, it’s just that I personally find it hard to travel with a shoulder bag. I cannot seem to navigate something on one shoulder while wheeling luggage. I need at least one hand to hold onto the bag, and I just find with the bottle pockets and zipper sections, everything is easily available but secure. But I’m not exactly a light traveler!!!

All of my H bags are B35 and fit perfectly into a Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM. When traveling I’m constantly reaching in and out of my bag which is easier for me with a tote. Plus I can carry the relatively lightweight Neverfull when I’m not in the mood for a heavy B. So the “purseducken” approach works best for me. Plus I can stuff a poncho on top.

“purseducken” is so good, I wish I had thought of it!!!

It was a good read until you mentioned bringing the Kelly in your backpack to the gym and then the Birkin in the backpack to go climbing. Seriously? I mean really.....seriously? You don't want to stand out yet you have a bright pink bag. If you absolutely have to bring luxury high end bags traveling with you, pick one that works with everything. Then make sure it is either locked up in the room safe or in the hotel safe itself if known as reputable with good security or locked in hard case luggage (not flimsy "hard" case but sturdy hard case). I don't want to sound mean but I'm just SMH at this. LOL. Unless I am attending a special occasion/event somewhere, I would never travel with my luxury bags. The only, and I mean ONLY exception is when I am purchasing them overseas and put them in my carry on roller bag for the flight home. Usually vintage/preloved so I don't have to worry about the box. I refuse to be a target and call attention to myself. I've used my Travelon Anti-Theft Classic Crossbody since 2013 with matching RFID wallet/clutch and it's been the absolute best personal carry pair I've ever had. They have graced Europe, Middle East, Africa, Cuba, Caribbean and South America with their presence and thankfully, never had an issue. I'd rather blend in than be worried every minute that someone is going to try and steal my luxury item.

Very good! Alas, I’d never fit a pack next to me, even in first class!
I do recall traveling with my DS 36 protected with its H bag to the side in the 1st Class bulkhead seat—no seat in front to stick under. Before take off DH kept saying attendant would make me put it in the overhead bin. “No, she won’t,” I reassured him—and she didn’t!
Definitely worth a couple hundred extra!

It had never occurred to me either that a bag can be stolen from your room. Now I’m kind of worried as I always travel with my horizon 55 as carryon and birkin 35 as personal item.
Might need to buy a canvas bag now to bring my b with me everywhere

This is how I plan to travel Abg12, I used to travel with my LV 5 Hanger Garment Bag, but it's way too heavy when using at the airport. I want to purchase a LV Horizon 55 Roller for flights and add the painted stripe and "J!m" in the same color as the stripes in place of my initials. (more than likely a really bold yellow paint.. like the LV is bold enough.... lol) I know it superfluous, but I can't help myself. I am trying to pace myself to purchase it for my Birthday in August. How is it for you using this item ?
"J!m"
