I have both styles and found the wrap arou d one is much easier to carry the hook one is a pain in the posterior it catches on things when you try to get it out to use it I have to store it in it's own storage pouch.
I found it was cheaper to buy a mixed selection from eBay than just one. Top link is for a six pack second for just one both in the uk.

Hi Slow!

I have a couple of Clipas (one brushed gold, one gunmetal) which are like a bangle that clips onto the handle of your bag and uh ... another that's shaped like a heart and works similarly. Hookup! that's it. I like that because they're right there on your bag, you don't have to go digging for them.

Those links have demos to show how they work, I'm not very good at explaining things like that but they open/twist and the surface which rests on the table has non-slip silicone coating on. The Clipa is also shown used in closed position to anchor to a fence or similar (the Hookup is not recommended to be used this way).

I also chose these because they are tested up to a certain weight (<30lbs for the Hookup, a whopping <45lbs for the Clipa) I wouldn't trust a fully laden Bayswater to some of the more flimsy-looking ones.

I have a fixed one like this.
I saw those in Selfridges recently - so cute with the elegant cat silhouette! I was tempted and had to tell myself very sternly that I didn't need another bag clip.

I tend not to hang it off my chair, but prefer to hang it under the table where nobody can see it and it won't get bashed by passing waiters.
