I bought one on impulse, but then felt slightly pretentious using it. Having tried it in public places a few times I found I didn't really like the fact that it drew more attention to my bag than I would have liked. I didn't like the idea of people wandering past my table at a cafe or whatever and glancing at my bag dangling there. And once I thought about it, I tend to keep my bag safe and clean anyway, without the help of a purse hook. But then the purveyors of small gadgets like nothing more then to convince us that there's some tiny thing we simply cannot live without!

i think they're very practical so i can understand why people use them. but honestly, i'd be embarrassed because i've never seen anyone use a purse hook. and i feel like i can hold onto my bag better than a purse hook can. i'd rather have my purse in my lap the entire time instead of having it dangling there and being nudged around in a crowded restaurant as people squeeze by.

You might be thinking of the old kind. The new ones aren't rickety and don't jiggle especially if your bag is huge (like mine). I have a Clipa too. It looks so cute with other bracelets and you don't have to dig around in your purse or twist it or any of that. It's super sturdy and will save you in the bathroom every time. Give the new ones a try!

I agree, the first time I saw them, I thought, "What IS that thing?", but after I encountered a situation that I had nowhere to place my bag, I fell in love with mine. I have a convertible one (that folds up flat and fits in a little satchel) for shorter tables, and luckily, my SIL bought me a longer one for larger tables. I carry them both. I feel like they are totally worth it with no added weight to my purse!

i've never seen people actually use them, so i guess it is kind of weird to me? but not necessarily in a bad way- just unusual. i usually put my bag over the back of my chair, or hanging on my knee under the table.

I can understand that you would feel out of place, but before you know it everyone is going to be using one. So, better now that you use one and lead the way to fashion, rather than be a fashion follower later.

SOOO not weird! How many times have you gone into a public restroom and the hook to hang your purse is missing? The good thing is that they come in so many different styles now, and range in prices. I love mine! It also adds a little something extra to my purse! I love to hang my keys from it as well. I no longer spend so much time searching for those lil buggers!!!

I saw one in a magazine the other day, that can be worn as a bracelet and you twist it open (into an S shape) when you want to use it as a purse hook.

Cute and you could use it with an evening bag that you couldn't actually carry a hook
in.

Unfortunately I gave the magazine to a friend and now I can't remember where to get it, because after thinking about it I'd like to have one.

They said it would hold up to 45 pounds - does anyone actually carry a 45 pound purse!?
