Purse Hooks / Hangers

Okay, here's my purse hook fear, and it may have been discussed, so forgive my not reading every reply.

I fear that I will hang my bag at a restaurant and then I will spill my drink, which will flow directly INTO my bag on the hook.

Reasonable bag anxiety?

YES! That is the scenario that always plays out in my mind whenever I consider buying one! Either that or some clumsy person/waiter spilling something on it or bumping into it. I like the idea of them but I am still apprehensive for those reasons!

To answer the original question though, I think they're cool! I just can't imagine using one much, I guess it would have to just the right scenario (like table near the wall no one walking by it, i dont know LOL) I always use the extra chair when I can, when it's a crowded place and small table I've actually just held my bag between my knees the whole dinner-- sounds ridiculous but I don't like it on my lap and won't set it on the floor.

Also, I don't necessarily think that purse hooks are "cool" like bell-bottoms were in the 70s or day-glo was in the 80s, but I DO know that a purse placed on the floor amongst spilled food, drinks and god-knows-what being tracked in from the restroom and street is very uncool and disgusting. I'd rather be a total purse nerd that pulls out a little hook that specifically accommodates my handbag than be someone who carries filth and funk on the bottom of her purse and then places said purse onto her bed, kitchen counters or couch. No thanks!!!!

VIVA LA PURSE HOOK! ;)

I'm so glad this thread got started! I have a purse hook that is the classic swing out hook arm on a disc design. I should have gotten one of the link luxe wrap around designs but didn't because they are pricey. The dark hook on mine gets stuck on things inside my bag all the time--the hook part always seems to worm its way out of the pouch. So I just googled link luxe for fun and they have some on sale. They have initials and my initial was still in stock! Woo hoo!

+100!!
Couldn't live without mine! I keep it in the little suede bag so that it is easy to find inside my bag.

Most people who comment on it are amazed and think it's a cool idea. In fact, I was lunching at the Peninsula hotel recently and a gentleman at the next table wanted to buy mine! (I declined, but gave him the pursehook URL).

here is the same one on amazon...cheaper with only $2.99 S&H.

Thanks so much nanette! I've just ordered this lovely blue aqua color from there! I can't wait to use it.

I saw the purse hangers at Nordstrom but they were a bit too fancy for my taste (I prefer a simplier design). So I'm glad I went with this one. I can't wait!!

I saw those, but I'm not certain that I want to pay the $9.95 shipping charge for such a small item! Yikes! Guess I'm spoiled by all the deals and free shipping during the holidays!

I couldn't live without mine. I am not generally one for "bling bling" but I bought a couple of these hooks a few years ago and haven't looked back since. I generally carry heavy, beefy bags such as Paddingtons and Heloise and Balenciaga Hobos these little hooks take the challenge like a man. Even for the wider handled bags they manage unseemingly!! Apologies for the bad quality pictures....jewellery photography won't make me any money!! Apart from everything, you never know whos watching and waiting for you to take your eyes off your bag.

I have bought a few on ebay from different sellers, trying to see which type is best. I have a couple of the foldable ones on order, but haven't received them yet. They are supposed to hold up to 15 pounds. There is a definite difference in quality of the ones I have received. Although you may not be able to tell from the pics, the type with the ball on the end of the hook 1st pic) is considerably thicker in diameter (and more sturdy) than the ones without. I would also suggest ensuring that the back has felt on it and that it comes with a velvet/felt bag or pouch because not all do. I got the one with "Starry Night" that opens up to a mirror and have received nothing but positive comments. Don't think I will even use the thinner-hooked ones (bottom pic).

I bought one off of Ebay about 2 weeks ago after reading this thread!
Mine is also a crown with rhinestones and I think it's so cute! I've used it a few times so far, and for $4.99 and free shipping it was totally worth it!
