I have one that I use every now and then. When I did take it out and use it, my family and friends went crazy over it. I think it's pretty and functional at the same time... I got mine from http://www.hot-hang-ups.com. They have a wide selection and are affordable too!!

This is the one I have:

I love that you can buy multi packs from Silverhooks! I just got a three-pack and my Christmas shopping is underway. Yayyyy!

(This buy follows my golden Christmas shopping rule - a gift for myself with every purchase. :graucho: )

Thanks for the shopping tips!!

I have to say that I have yet to see the day when someone does not approach me when using my purse hook. There's always diners, waiters, passerbys who stop to ask what it is, and how ingenious it is.

Same here!! Whenever I use my purse hooks in the restaurant, someone is bounded to ask me where I bought it from, LOL!!

I've also had lots of friends who have said to me, "I'd never use one of those." And after I lend it to them? Forget about ever getting my purse hook back!

I have given away at least 6-7 purse hooks because of the exact same reason too!! I don't mind really and was quite happy to give it my friends since it's not easy to find a nice and practical present that they like :smile1:

I love the purse hangers from PurseSitter http://www.pursesitter.com and I think they have the cutest patterns by far. These are the 3 patterns I am using right now and I think they are really cute :p

I have my (late) aunt's purse hanger. It's silver-tinted and has a sitting poodle on it. I'm not quite that kind of person, but it's sure a conversation piece. :)
If there's no extra chair for my purse, I just do the penguin thing and rest it on my feet.

How cute and what a great idea. I just ordered the folding mirror one. I can't tell you how many times I've been out and there are four to a small table and I just keep my bag on my lap. This will take care of that. Thanks for posting the link!!

I bought a package of two from Linens N Things for 9.99 (probably the same thing available at Bed Bath and Beyond) One silver and one gold with a big "rhinestone" on the top. cute and affordable! Used my 20% coupon too.

Yesterday, for the first time I saw a woman use one in a restaurant. The bag, a medium-large hobo, was really in the way of waiters or restaurant patrons who wanted to pass by. It was impossible not to bump into the bag and set it swinging on its hook. I'm really not sure if there is a time and place for these things, but it certainly is not in a crowded restaurant.

How would a server bump into the bag? The bag would hang parallel to the table wouldn't it? Those are the only hooks I have ever seen so far. The bag shouldn't even stick out farther than the person who is sitting at the table. Unless the bag was hanging on the outside of a table or booth in the isle ... which would seem to defeat the whole purpose of a purse hook.

When I get mine, I don't think I'll use it in a restaurant where the tables are so close together that it would get in the way of other people.

I would probably keep it hanging on the side where I am sitting so it doesn't get in any one else's way. I can't really think of any restaurants that I eat at regularly where there isn't enough space for me to comfortably hang up my purse without getting in someone's way so I doubt it will be a problem. I guess it just depends on the restaurant and how it is laid out.

I just ordered two from couturecaddy.com! One for my mom and one for me.

I really liked the luxelink ones, but the shipping to Hawaii was $10. That's a lot considering the hook itself was $35.

From couturecaddy I got two purse hooks shipped for less than $25.

A larger purse, especially an unstructured one like a hobo, is not going to sit completely parallel to the table.

OMG lol I had no idea this thread was still going on! Anyway, update: My purse hooks came in the mail, but I have not used it yet! But I got the same as above ^^ and it's gorgeous from the same website, too! I think I will use it soon ;)

It must have been an unusually wide bag and a very cramped restaurant that a server couldn't walk by it without hitting it! If you think about it, a purse might not stick out from a table much further than a winter jacket hanging on a hook, and some restaurants put hooks next to the table, and if it were a booth, would there be room for a high chair at the end of the table? That would stick out further than a purse, also.

has anybody tried the bag hooks from stylagio.com? i just received a sample from them and i have to say that i like the circular bag hook style more that the ones that look like wire hooks. they are sturdier and look more stylish. they are affordable too at $19.95, compared to other comparable bag hooks. granted, there are only 10 colors to choose from but when it comes to my bag hooks, i prefer function and substance over style. well, this one is stylish enough for me. ;)

i also asked for a discount for my blog readers and anne, stylagio's owner, kindly offered a 20% discount with code "shopdiary20" through 12/31/07. i'll be getting a few as stocking stuffers for my sisters and friends.
