Purse Hooks / Hangers

^You have summed up my thoughts on it entirely! :p I feel it's a little ridiculous in that it screams obsessive (I am about bags so its true) so that it is embarassing. Someone bought a very nice purse hook for me from Europe and I although I secretly want to use it really bad and it is handy... I'm concerned I'll seem like a nut. :roflmfao:

Another concern it what is a good place to hang it. Sometimes its a two person table... one end of the table against a wall and the opposite end where the waiter brings the food over so wouldn't it be even riskier to hang my bag there in case there are spills?

So far I've kept my bag behind me on my chair or on my lap. In peru there are chains/ties to secure/lock your bag to your chair lest someone try to take it while your not paying attention.

That's the EXACT reason I am working on a new design that turns. This way you could hang the purse on the wall side so that the purse would be parallel to the wall! What really matters though, is what do the ladies think?

Not to put a damper or any one's idea of buying one of these but to me they are very dangerous.

While they may keep your bag clean by keeping it off the floor, they give far to much easy access to any common thief.

All a person has to do is past your table snatch your bag and be out the door with it in a hot second.

No thanks not for me, If I am paying hundreds of dollars for a handbag I will gladly hold mine all day long.

That's an interesting perspective, I never thought of that. I use a purse hook all the time and I am careful to hang my purse close to me rather than in the middle of the table. At a two person table, I usually hang it on the edge of the table where I am sitting rather than the side where the waiter stands.

Has anyone seen SilverHooks new hooks? Their mirror hook is much better now. It is more sturdy and it has a magnet to keep it closed...

I use a purse hook all the time and I absolutely love it. Yes, it was a bit awkward at first, but it is so much better than putting your bag on the chair next to you or on the floor!

I have a few hooks from www.SilverHooks.com. Their hooks are sturdy and can hold between 15 to 20 pounds. Since I carry my life in my bag, it is super helpful! Even the hooks that fold up are really strong.

The rotating hook is an interesting idea- then it wouldn't swing into the person next to you.....

If you are looking for some good hooks, there are a ton out there, but I personally like SilverHooks. They are so sturdy and they just improved a few of their styles so they all hold 15-20 pounds now...

Thanks for the updaye - I was looking at these too, as they seem to be the sam eas luxelinks without the markup - I also liked the folding jnes better, as they take up less toom in you rbag, but hesitated at the 9lb. weight limit. Now they're much better!

I just bought a package of 2 purse hooks (one goldtone, one silvertone) from Bed Bath and Beyond for $10. They are cute and very compact, I stuck the silver one in my purse, can't wait to field test it!

Edit: This is the same purse hook I bought if anyone wants to see what it looks like:

Seems you get a better deal just buying it at BB&B since you don't pay the shipping buyiing it at the store.

Wow, this is the cheapest I've seen them. Have you tried them out yet Glam? They look like they might not be made as well as the one I have called "the purse hook"

That price is incredible though. Wish there was a BBB in Canada!

Like a lot of the other women on this thread, I thought the purse hook was ridiculous. And since reading this thread, I have wanted one every time I've been out to a restaurant! I talked to my boyfriend about it and he agreed that they look a little silly, but they were really functional and practical. And today I ate lunch with a male friend and I told him about it, and he also agreed that they were really practical. So...I'm getting one! I like this one: http://www.luxelink.com/catalog/Hampton-Purse-Link-p-16148.html
but I think I'm going to get this one:

because it's cheaper and the mirror will come in handy.

I have not used the purse hook out in the field yet, but I hung my fully loaded Epi Speedy 25 on it off my dining table and it held nicely. I will report back after I use it while out and about.

I've used a purse hook (the compact one from silverhooks.com) with my Hayden-Harnett triple-compartment Mercer. My guy friends tease me about how much my HH Mercer weighs, and the purse hook had no problem. My only complaint is that the hook end isn't quite big enough to hold very fat straps (e.g. Bottega Veneta ball bag).
