I got "hooked". My purse hook came in the mail today.....I LOVE IT!!!:yahoo: My D&G handbag is hanging on to it now. Waiting for my SO to get up from his nap and notice it on the counter.:p

Funny thing a few months ago I took my dog out for his last walk of the night and I look down and right there on the sidewalk is a purse hook. I picked it up and was very excited I said to my DH OMG look what I just found. He rolled his eyes and just laughed.

I have only used it one time and I really liked it.

I received one as a gift last Christmas and it's actually quite pretty (looks like the ones from Couture Caddy). I'd honestly rather use it than get my bag on the floor or leave it in my lap. Unfortuntely I forget to bring it sometimes so I haven't really used it to its full potential. Still, I'm happy to use it when it's there and all my friends who have one love using theirs as well.

I haven't seen one in years but I really should get one. Good bags on the floor are not a good idea and quite frankly, still easy to steal (that happened to a friend of mine). I've seen some bars recently that build hooks into the bar front - what a neat idea. Never feel silly with a purse hook - its an investment in the care of your bag AND what's in it.

when i read this i thought "what? these things exist? who would buy one?"
but i got to thinking and realized i need one!!!
i just hate putting my bags on the floor...or on the table...tables are real sticky!
i could put them in the seat next to me but i might forget it...or the chair might be dirty too...
so if i ever get one (which i will) i'll hook it next to me on the table, not in the aisle.
i like these:

I LOVE the Luxe Link hooks, they are so pretty! I like that they come in a pouch so they don't demagnetize credit cards and stuff, and the designs are adorable! I think I'm going to get them for my mom and I, they would be perfect for when we go on vacation because we go to dinner shows, and the only place to put our bags is on the ground, so now we can hang our bags!

I can't wait to see my dad's reaction when I pull mine out of my bag, lol.

My friends and I always put our bags on a chair, we just kind of pile them up.

I've been looking at these to, and expect I'll order nearer December for myself and soem gifts. All the sites I've seen that have the hook that folds up (like Luxe Links) warns that they only hold up to 9 lbs. The fixed hooks from various sites say they hold 40, 60, or more lbs. Just something to keep in mind if you tote your life in your bag!

Personally I would not feel comftorable wipping one out and using it. I do think it looks high maintenance....however...i would rather be high maintenance than put my bag on the dirty ground. So I think i would carry one just incase that rare opportunity comes when i really really need it.

I honestly never thought I would be one of those people to whip out a purse hook in a restaurant. But I finally decided to do it today. I had a really nice purse with me last night that is light in color and I was at an outdoor restaurant with no place to put it and it was annoying to put on my lap. I didn't want to put it on the ground because it was basically the outside ground!

So... I'm getting a purse hook. Yes, I still find it ridiculous maybe even embarrassing, but I kind of want one at the same time. Is that bad? I am sure I will look high maintenance with one of these things lol. I'm browsing for them on ebay as we speak. :hrmm: Does anyone else have one? All thoughts and comments welcome!

^You have summed up my thoughts on it entirely! :p I feel it's a little ridiculous in that it screams obsessive (I am about bags so its true) so that it is embarassing. Someone bought a very nice purse hook for me from Europe and I although I secretly want to use it really bad and it is handy... I'm concerned I'll seem like a nut. :roflmfao:

Another concern it what is a good place to hang it. Sometimes its a two person table... one end of the table against a wall and the opposite end where the waiter brings the food over so wouldn't it be even riskier to hang my bag there in case there are spills?

So far I've kept my bag behind me on my chair or on my lap. In peru there are chains/ties to secure/lock your bag to your chair lest someone try to take it while your not paying attention.

So, many of you have been using the various purse hooks for a few months...any updates on use, preference or durability? I'm thinking holiday presents for my peeps.

I got one from Couture Caddy and the rubber cushion that helps keep it attached to the table came off pretty soon after I started using it. Might have been that the table was extra sticky or whatever.

I bought my pursehooks from silverhooks.com purely after reading this thread! I got the duo pack (one mirrored, one blue) and love them. In fact, I used my mirrored one the other day, and my girlfriend was so impressed I said I'd send her the blue one! I don't have any high end bags, I use mine just to keep the bag safe and out of the way. The only thing I'd say against them is that if you get a really thick underhang on a table, then there may not be enough clearance to hang your bag properly as the pursehooks clearance is quite small.

I'm gearing up to buy some from luxelinks as I really like the fact you can use them as a bag charm, and that they curl in on themselves so pack up small. I don't like the ones that look like big hooks as they look too...'hooky' IYSWIM.

And for the poster who's asking about who'd be interested in perpendicular hooks - me! I think it's a great idea - it's always the simple one that work the best, like the chameleon!

I have the Dangle hook and honestly the only time I used it I was with my sisters and they laughed at me for using it. It was expected but they thought it was a great idea in theory, but it was a little embarrassing and I expected a little ribbing about it. The dangle is a little heavy but worked.
