Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

It is a slight- she should have been invited but with the proviso if she felt she could not or should not attend she could decline the invite
We don't know for a fact that she wasn't invited, just what the DM reports, and they are not always accurate. Like everything we've been reading for months. For all we know she could have spoken to KC and said give my seat to someone else, I'll watch from home. Many of us have been in the position of having to whittle the guest list for a wedding, and it's never easy.

Check her daughter’s insta - India Hicks. She says her mom was not invited.

I doubt anyone else ever will. She was an iconic figure for seven decades. I don't think there are many people on the planet who have never heard of Queen Elizabeth II. Even if he surprises everyone and does a respectable job for fifteen or twenty years, he can never match his mother's reign.
Her reign will not be matched again, I’m sure. But it was a rocky ride at times. She wasn’t always so popular. When Diana died, she tanked in popularity and ‘allegedly’ only went back to London and did a walk about/looked at flowers because Tony Blair advised her to. She was very stiff upper lip and carry on- totally out of step with the British public mood re Diana.

I feel sorry for Charles, his mother was the last of a bygone era, that in the end the public looked back on with fondness. The nations matriarch.

I quite like Charles and I think after the coronation he will start modernising and streamlining the monarchy ready for a handover to William, working closely with William.
He is in his mid 70’s but is forward thinking. He was ahead of his time with his focus on the environment and organic farming. I don’t see anyone laughing at him now on those issues?

I do recall the debacle surrounding Diana's death. The Queen underestimated the public's affection for her.

Go one more gen and they would have been
Yes, shared ancestors but Harriet is not Kate's ancestor herself. Everyone is somebody's cousin, my husband is the umpteenth cousin of Charles and all the other royals, does it matter in the grand scale of things? Not really (obviously, he's received no invitation ). Siblings and cousins are family but not directly related to your great-great-great-grandchildren meaning not their ancestors. I have no children and cannot claim my sister's children as my descendants. That's what I was trying to say.
