I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

I'll be there if I get a hotel room (good quality mind you), flights and drivers booked etc. Plus I'm not standing anywhere on the roadside. Either I'm seated at the Abbey (good seats) and invited to the afterparty or you can forget it. But you've got people to contact pronto if you want this shindig to go anywhere.

I am starting to fear it will be complete sh*tshow of a coronation since they even left some of the most senior dukes uninvited. If KCIII thinks it's a good idea to neglect the monarchists and try to pander to the ones calling for abolishing it, then I think he'll soon notice what happens.

You know, I always said I dread the day The Queen goes (and I meant the real Queen, QEII) because of everything I had read over the years that Charles had said and done, plus his personality. He had too many opinions about all sorts of things, and not popular ones, either.

The Queen was beloved because she kept her opinions to herself, and that way, everyone could relate to her. Charles never learned that lesson.

But he was so young there. I don't think it's fair to judge him by that moment. I've always gotten the impression that he was shy and introverted but due to his accident of birth became a reluctant extrovert. I am glad there is no video evidence of myself at eighteen.

Here is a little story for you.
My cousin and her daughter (then aged 12) were visiting from Cali. We lived in DC, so of course we did the obligatory nation’s capital tour.
When spotting the Washington Monument, she says, “Washington? What did HE do to deserve such a monument?”

That was 25 years ago, and I still cringe when I recall that.
