I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

I always thought the reason Kate didn't go to Balmoral was to facilitate keeping TW-Netfl*x out of the area at such a difficult time. Why the need to constantly be fair to TW when she doesn't seem to mind being unfair to them?

I'm sure Kate spent time with the Queen in her last days, if not at her deathbed. She will always take comfort in the fact that she and the Queen had a close relationship and the Queen thought highly of her, something that MM can never say. But of course she will.

He needs to get back to the California sun to thaw from the frostbite of the coronation. Doesn’t Harold realize how stupid these stores make him sound? He is like a little boy running back to mommy. Using his son as an excuse is beyond pathetic.

We all saw the pic at the funeral of Harry standing by himself, no one wanted to speak to him. Of course he would fly back right away..that has to be uncomfortable for all involved.

You know, I really think M&H fled the UK because of Archie. If they had stayed, there is no way they could have hidden him away like they have, not to mention the other one. Archie would have to have been seen, and any shenanigans about his birth/date would come to light as he developed. If her plan was to have a girl child custom made, she could not have done it there either. And, eventually some DNA would turn up and be tested, if it hasnt been already. There was plenty of weirdness about her bump, to say the very least. No way could she have hidden him if they were living in Frogmore.

I think the kids were the whole real reason she had to get outta there. She needed kids to secure her meal ticket, but however she got them was a little fraught and I think she had to get the heck outta dodge to keep anyone from looking too closely at them. The weird story about the watery epidural and hasty exit from the hospital in Spare shows that Harry went along with whatever was going on. And SOMETHING weird was going on for sure. The birth certificate at the very least shows something odd happened.

If we think something was fishy and we never see them, imagine if they were living basically in close proximity to the rest of the family. I predict the RF will never clap eyes on those two kids.

Honestly, how embarrassing for HIM. After all the stuff in his book about his frozen and then creamed up todger and losing his virginity... Those are things you keep to yourself, and certainly never tell your family.

I can't even imagine my family knowing these kinds of intimate things about me. He should be mortified and embarrassed. Because they're probably all laughing at him behind his back.

Agree and adding KC & Willian’s failure to manage effectively this ‘darling boy” weaken them possibly beyond repair. Yes, William is most definitely part of this mess. Considering how much has been handed to W, if this H&M mess is his idea of leadership, he is worse than KC.

One thing to have mental health, drug issues. Quite another matter to expect people to fund his lifestyle while he sits in his McMansion and complains about it. Plus, the security costs. Sheeesh. Resolve this nonsense.

We are always promised “devastating leaks” that never happen. I assume this will be the same.

Just once, I’d like the palace to go no holds barred, scorched earth, take no prisoners. Just say what they are really thinking. It would be so incredible!

In fairness, TQ had decades to build up her goodwill. She came to the throne prematurely as her father was not that old when he died. As time progressed, and she aged, the regard grew stronger. She was also a symbol for those who remembered WWll. It is very difficult for KC to overcome any of that. He doesn’t have the luxury of time.

Sure but he’s been alive and in the public eye all this time.

I will say the massive surge of popular feeling in the U.K. at the time due to their contribution to allied victory, the general improvement in public health and nutrition under rationing and the relatively new NHS saw a country largely optimistic for growth and social mobility…..nowadays…..

Also to be brutally honest: hard to get that excited but not so much because people don’t know Charles but that we all know we will have to fork out for the same thing again in 10/15 years time.

Respectfully, I don’t agree. I think both of them are carving out roles of social relevance. William with the environment and Catherine with children. If we don’t take care of the planet, there will be nothing left for the children. Charles was laughed at with his organic gardening. Who is having the last laugh now? The Duchy of Cornwall has done good things and managed to make money at the same time with organic farming and restoration of entire villages with economic improvement to the Duchy’s credit. William inherited a legacy in much better shape than when his father received it. I think he will follow his father’s lead in running it. Both of them are serious people and know what they have to do.

I think it’s fair to say most people who ridicule Charles environmental pretensions do so because they think he is a massive hypocrite given he:-
runs multiple homes,
has a helicopter,
has introduced invasive species into his own lands,
uses environmentally unsound packaging on all duchy products,
has no qualifications in any of this and jets around the world.

He’s been in the public eye his entire life as the heir to the throne. There isn’t anything new for UK citizens to discover about him, they already know what they are getting.

For UK members: is Charles popular with the average person like the Queen was?

In some ways the problems with Harry and Meghan may have helped Charles. Everyone can identify with having difficult family members and he has gained sympathy as a result.

I’m an opinionated U.K. member but I don’t think I’d be unfair in saying - a big NO- he’s nowhere near as popular. I don’t think any of them will reach the Queen’s status but he’s definitely not the second most liked either.

I agree with you and I find that depressing for those kids. They seem so isolated with a pair of total nutcases.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I read that picture was photoshopped to make her look even worse than she already did. In the picture of her being "fitted" for it a few pages back she did not look this bad. And this concludes my support of MM for today.
