I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

yes, and I think a lot of people don't like funding the RF (again, correct my if I'm wrong)
I really like William and Kate but they are basically figureheads now

In fairness, TQ had decades to build up her goodwill. She came to the throne prematurely as her father was not that old when he died. As time progressed, and she aged, the regard grew stronger. She was also a symbol for those who remembered WWll. It is very difficult for KC to overcome any of that. He doesn’t have the luxury of time.

Respectfully, I don’t agree. I think both of them are carving out roles of social relevance. William with the environment and Catherine with children. If we don’t take care of the planet, there will be nothing left for the children. Charles was laughed at with his organic gardening. Who is having the last laugh now? The Duchy of Cornwall has done good things and managed to make money at the same time with organic farming and restoration of entire villages with economic improvement to the Duchy’s credit. William inherited a legacy in much better shape than when his father received it. I think he will follow his father’s lead in running it. Both of them are serious people and know what they have to do.

He’s been in the public eye his entire life as the heir to the throne. There isn’t anything new for UK citizens to discover about him, they already know what they are getting.

For UK members: is Charles popular with the average person like the Queen was?

In some ways the problems with Harry and Meghan may have helped Charles. Everyone can identify with having difficult family members and he has gained sympathy as a result.

HMTQ had a sense of duty her whole life. KC has a sense of spoiled entitlement (IMO) I think the Monarchy is such an outdated system (as a Canadian)
We have also been introduced to info via TV series' nowadays which shows things in a different light.
I don't see any celebs lining up to get involved..just to avoid the spotlight surrounding any headlines is in their best interest. Let alone not being paid :lol:

Right. Leave Archie out of it. This is the "Coronation Show", not the "Harry and Meghan's Kid's Show". If one of the Cambridge kid's birthday was, say, May 7th, would THEY get a shout out? Nope. Besides, we already saw the BRF spending tens of millions on Zed and she STILL called them "racist". The bish has no hope. None. The RF could spend 500 million MORE and she'd STILL call them "racist". Since nothing is ever good enough for her, they should cut every single tie with her, which of course is why she couldn't crank out the meal tickets fast enough. She was scheming all the while Charles was walking her down the wedding aisle. Don't all racists throw you a fifty million dollar wedding?

Agree and adding KC & Willian’s failure to manage effectively this ‘darling boy” weaken them possibly beyond repair. Yes, William is most definitely part of this mess. Considering how much has been handed to W, if this H&M mess is his idea of leadership, he is worse than KC.

One thing to have mental health, drug issues. Quite another matter to expect people to fund his lifestyle while he sits in his McMansion and complains about it. Plus, the security costs. Sheeesh. Resolve this nonsense.

The boy isn’t darling and he isn’t a boy. They are dealing with a malevolent adult and better start realizing it.

According to Neal Sean, who I rarely pay attention to, it was more like assistants speaking to assistants. No direct conversation between Harry and his father. I believe this. KC would never take the chance of being recorded and having it used against him.
