Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

Hope you're all having a lovely Easter, no matter how you choose to mark it. Speaking of marking, Markle has her own tradition: it's called "stuffing your face":

This has the residue of a product placement paid ad. Also, one of a certain social class does not serve in containers from the store. One, "decants" to other containers. She did so with the lox and bagels but not the cream cheese or caviar. The obvious label and Cheese Boutique reference seems to indicate a paid ad.

These are tell-tale signs of that indicate her social class. Including that caviar needs a non-metal spoon, which is absent—at least in the photo.

Nothing in this picture looks appetizing.
Those beaten-with-a-hammer looking bagels look like they were pulled out from a compost bin.
Also, what's with the huge, dirty, rusty, chipped knife? It's looking like an ancient artifact not something you would prepare food with

Attention to detail clearly isn't something on TW's radar.

The knife and the spoon look like they're borrowed from a 1950s horror movie

Non metal or high carat gold, would she know the difference? Disgusting to show that spoon.

Meghan thinks luxury is a brand of milk - that doesn't even look like any caviar I would buy but just a jar with green peppercorns or capers

Sevruga is lighter but would have smaller eggs, Beluga is darker and it doesn't match (and illegal to import atm) it's not even Huso Huso

I think those are capers in that white bowl. The tin of caviar is either unopened or more likely empty

The whole thing is a set up for the #

If she doesn't want people to laugh at her, she needs to stop pulling such obvious stunts. I'm sure the knife was a deliberate thing to get everyone talking again. Who would even keep a rusty knife like that, let alone put it near food. I promise you, I am not a clean/neat freak at all.

Also, are those....GOLDEN GOBLETS?

Probably copper but.. this whole thing looks faked for the placement.

The bagels and lox look great, but why would you say "HAPPY EASTER" with bagels and lox?

It is not acknowledging Passover, in which people of the Jewish faith avoid leavened food for a week, AND of which this photo was taken right in the middle of it, which began the 5th and lasts until the evening of the 13th.

So, besides being wrong foodie-wise, this is a super culturally insensitive post.

For someone who majored in "International Relations," it's a pretty boneheaded and insensitive move.

TBH I thought they were capers until I read the lid. Maybe she thought her followers would be none the wiser.

ETA, @DoggieBags may be correct.

But is it old Tig or new Tig? I assumed it was an old post.

You're so right! For all her protestations of 'inclusively and diversity' she's as culturally sensitive as a sledge hammer. Perhaps Charles should make it a condition of their attendance of the Coronation they take courses in I&D :D
