Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

On topic: can anyone tell me if M gets to choose her own outfit for the coronation? I'm just wondering if, like tiaras, things are chosen for her on this occasion based on historical significance and whatnot.
I have to go double check, but I believe on state occasions such as a coronation, the ladies wear white gowns. It keeps everything homogeneous and it is easier to piñ on the badges, brooches etc that are colorful.

Remember, an invitation is not an apology, they will not be given roles, and they will bow/curtsy before their King and Queen.
So, they get nothing of what they have demanded. People will see their hypocrisy on the global stage.
Yep! As many have pointed out, once the invitation is sent, the ball is in their court. KC3 did the polite thing and now it is up to them. I fully expect a word salad press release at how attending has nothing to do with the requested apology. It will be framed to state that their presence is in support of the monarchy itself and has nothing to do with personal grievances. In other words, as the Corleone family liked to point out it’s business and not personal.

Her tailoring is immaculate. I feel scruffy just looking at pics of her!
With all clothes Even the casual clothing fits well. There are occasionally things she wears that I don’t care for, but they fit lol! Part of it is being blessed with the body of a fashion model. OK, that’s probably most of it:smile:

yes, even with better tailoring, Meghan doesn't have the tall slender body that Kate has

Addendum to my previous post.

It is definitely all business. It has been discussed ad nauseam that the Sussex business model requires being linked to all things royal. If they didn’t feel that way, then the brand of Sussex Royal never would have been created and copyrights taken out for various things to merchandise. All their current business ventures and contracts were settled with the royal linkages being present, otherwise they are no different from the hundreds of people floating around the planet with fancy sounding titles and sometimes not even a country to match to it.

plus their foundation hasn't really done anything....and people who run legit foundations usually don't get the kind of attention they crave

It is also straight shoulders and proportions. Meghan was very thin during her Suits days and the wardrobe people had her looking good because as professionals, they knew how to dress her body type. That is 3/4 of the battle with wearing the right clothing. The other 1/4 is having it tailored.

I’m sure that many wealthy people with foundations have a certain amount of look at me for being so charitable , but they do enough good works to make up for the ego aspect of it. A foundation solely used as some sort of tax shelter and/or for publicity is going to be shown for what it is eventually.

Oh, so she can rewear her wedding dress! Or get another apartment-priced monstrosity. It won't be as fun if Charles doesn't pay though, and their demands seem to get lost in the mail recently.

maybe some of them want attention, but he don't get it on a household name level
I hope you're right and they will eventually be exposed to the whole world as a do-nothing tax shelter

Gosh, why is someone paying these people to spout their sickness-inducing nonsense?

That Louise O’Neill is the same age as the Sussexes, Irish, and anti-royalist. Naturally she is going to side with them. She makes her living writing young adult/children’s fiction.

She readily admits to being rather a shallow woman when it comes to them:

I listened to Spare as an a audiobook last month. I thought the ghost writer did a fine job — although I did lose the will to live when Harry was discussing, in great detail, how one might fly an Apache helicopter. I’m only here for the fisticuffs over flower-girl dresses, please.

When she writes "as a nation we...."

Does she mean the Irish we ?(she's Irish, born in Clonakilty, County Cork, Ireland)

In which case -

Ireland doesn't have a monarchy (not since 1919 or '21 anyway, and depending on which history you prefer)

So she doesn't need to be anti-Royalist because she doesn't have a royal family to be anti of.

Or has she decided to become British?

In which case the BRF comes as a package (my dear).

Or is she culturally-appropriating? Inappropriately talking on behalf of people she is not part of.

Or is that the Royal 'We'? Perhaps she has delusions of grandeur and thinks she's another Queen, like the grandiose couple she likes so much, who live in a candy-floss castle in the cloud-coockoo land of Gimme-gimme-gimme.

Sick of these people, they're all NUTS - and I'm not even a staunch monarchist.
