Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

A typical comment from the DM story - the public isn't falling for it.

"With other people's money, when they could've done it with their own all along. Riding the "royalty" image for more praise and recognition for themselves. Not to mention the other 80% most likely went to pay for their snowflake lifestyle."
Someone posted the report on Reddit, it's embarrassing. The Harkles still managed to surprise me. :hrmm:

There is no shortage of links to post with the new ArchW's report. Twitter is on fire! :amazed::amazed::amazed:
DM will have a blast tomorrow.

This is actually quite standard impact reporting for non-profits, social enterprises. "Leveraged our network to support the planting of 10 million trees" - been there done that  . If the organisation contracts for external audits, then the details will be in auditor's report but most people don't go over the dollars and cents and just read the glossy narratives.

business in trafficked children (usually babies). Our Olympic champion runner Sir Mo Farah is only one such example: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-62123886 It's usually same family/name undocumented 'adoptions'.

IF A isn't naturally (of body) and 50/50 H&M's, the couple will have committed a crime (UK). Archie obviously won't have a paper trail otherwise 'we'd' have found it by now, and if A is surrogate (illegal to make mother waive parental rights by contract, payment or otherwise) or 'adopted' without papers from another country (also illegal in the UK) this could blow-up in everyone's faces.

I doubt A'd be from the US IYKWIM.
I dunno Mo’s story as written sounds like very tall tale to me so I wouldn’t put that much stock in it.

I think I know what the reality is but because of all he’s achieved the authorities are happy to draw a blind eye.
Because I worked in construction, outside of work I wanted the prettiest high heels and was always able to walk in them. Since covid I don’t wear them so much as I feel overdressed but I can still run in them at 52. Whilst I can wear LK Bennett like Kate I cannot wear CL’s or Jimmy Choo - no way.
Oh great to see another lady in the industry!

I wasn’t responding to their clothing, instead, to what looked to me, an inappropriate, joking interchange between them. He has a doofus look on his face, makes a comment to her, and she goes full out into laughing.

Maybe just my perception but it seemed disrespectful. Years ago on a tour group visit to a Mosque in Istanbul, before entering we were given firm directions about good manners because “the Mosque is a place for ‘peaceful calm’ for worshipping God.” We were admonished not to make a noise, speak loudly, laugh out loud and to have phones muted and no photos.
That’s fair enough and I get that for a place like Istanbul (it’s a “Turkish thing” too), but I still don’t think it’s enough to escort her out.

See the thing is, in Muslim culture, a guest is a big thing. Huge. For example, if someone comes to your house to stay, you’re actually obligated to host them for 3 days according to Prophetic teachings. Then, after 3 days, you can ask them to leave.

So even despite her raucous laughter, it wouldn’t be enough to tell her/them to leave. We are big on respecting our guests as hosts - heck, look at even the Taliban lol - so I could not see it happening with them, and yes, even in the house of God/Mosque. Plus they’re kinda-sorta royalty lol. Or were

I’m sorry but not only did they not do any of this and they are taking the credit but these causes are terrible
1, Why would you build a playground in a place where many of the children were infamously murdered? Talk about rubbing it in.
2. Vaccines should be sourced and administered by a medical organisation with certification and experience not a clapped out tart and a concert organiser.
3. Why if the USA waged a war with Afghanistan for over as decade that ended in them returning to the leadership of the Taliban within a month after the US withdrawal would you then decide it’s a good idea to invite the traumatised, indoctrinated afghanis to live among the people and the guns of the US? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
4. I mean the fact they are calling that moron in the NYT an academic is embarrassing for everyone.

They release a report and more people are jumping ship in addition to the ones who left in the past 2 months. Did They know that the report would be torn apart? The world is waking up to what a fake this foundation is.
You must be right. It's quite obvious that the Harkles are taking credit for donations made by other organizations. It's a very arrogant report, pompous like the Harkles.

I understand there is exaggeration and embellishment in writing these impact reports, but the Harkles seem to have gone too far imo. The dollar amounts were provided by their minister of propaganda.

I get it. Sometimes I host the most awful guests (relatives of the FIL) and we just tolerate them, then tell FIL: Could we never invite them to stay again? These are guests who blatantly try to get us to give them our bathroom fittings (the greed was strong in these people).

I'm guessing people around the world smiled grimly as she brayed in raucous laughter. They didn't get a "Come back again" invite from Morocco, Fiji or Australia, and will certainly not get one from South Africa.

It's already here! I wonder if the $3M in grants are related to some of the articles praising the Harkles.

In a 24 page report, the philanthropic foundation describes how it:

  • Helped procure 12.6 million COVID vaccines through their partnership with Global Citizen.
  • Rescued more than 7,400 people from war torn Afghanistan through a partnership with Human First Coalition.
  • Dished out 50,000 meals through a partnership with World Central Kitchen.
  • Developed a resource guide embracing 'positive masculinity' that's been accessed by 3,673 individuals
  • Built a playground for children of Uvalde, Texas after a gun massacre in a school last year killed 19 young children and two teachers
  • Helped fund 13 academic fellows to 'address society's most urgent concerns surrounding social media' at Harvard's Institute for Rebooting Social Media

DM just wants the clicks and comments

How they live with themselves publishing their propaganda I have no idea

I'm confused:

How does a also-ran part in a cable soap make one a fashion expert?

Frankly, I can't think of anyone who knows less about fashion - and I have a cat on my bed who won't even wear his extortionately expensive collar I bought him for Christmas. I'm thinking of extending it and wearing it myself.
