I recently tried to take a vintage chanel from the early 90's into Chanel to see if they could do anything to it, but im glad the SA told me I should wait for a few more years to redip the chain and recolor the bag =) but she did say everything will cost around $500 but bag was rather small. SA was nice enough to clean the bag, and gave me new dust bag for it.

These look pretty much to be the prices from the increase last summer. They doubled the cost of spa services as so many were buying sad bags off eBay, then having Chanel refurbish them, & the person would just "flip" them as they do houses. This service was never intended for the secondary market but rather as a service for Chanel customers. I still am lamenting that they didn't have a way to "grandfather" in faithful Chanel store purchasers so we'd not have to pay the same as resellers.

I agree they should "grandfather" us in. I even have the original receipts from Chanel for all of my bags. Luckily, I don't use the others often enough to warrant a refurbishing, yet. My poor GST was looking so sad and then when the grommets started poking through the caviar, I just couldn't stand to look at it anymore. Have you had a caviar bag refurbished? I was really hoping they could get all of the dents and wrinkles out but the SA didn't seem too confident. She said they would call me in a few days to discuss what can/cannot be done so if they say they can't get the dents out, I may just ask for a cleaning and repair of the grommets for $420 instead.

Wow! The SA cleaned it for you right there in store? May I ask where? Sounds like a great person to deal with. Lucky you!:smile1:

Just took my GST into Neiman Marcus for a total refurbishment. It looks like Chanel increased the prices again. Hope it's worth it. This is my first bag needing a refurb since I use it almost everyday.

Thank you so much for posting the new price list. Did you happen to get a pic of the right side of the repair form with the Jewelry repair pricing? If so, could you please post it?

Thanks for posting the list. To refurbish SLGs used to cost only $50 and it's now $310, wow! Handbags went from $220 to $610... I would be OK paying these prices, but I would expect a perfect job. Please share with us the outcome of your GST.

Yes! They actually gave me a copy to take home. Here you go! :smile1:

That's quite a jump in repair costs for jewelry.
I have the classic pearl necklace and earrings and those little pearls on the CCs tend to fall off pretty easily. I've lost a few of those and the replacement cost was only $30 per pearl last year. And restringing was only $110 if I remember well.

Most of my bags are lamb so I've not had any refurbishment done (I do my own leather care). I strongly doubt they can get all of the wrinkles & dents out, but sometimes they do seem to make bags look amazing.

At these prices, I'd be looking elsewhere for leather & jewelry repair as Chanel has set the prices so unbelievably high for too many services. They send them out for the most part anyway, so short of needing a Chanel marked item it's just not cost effective. It's really a shame they don't value loyal customers more. Another reason to look at Dior & other houses.

The fee before the increase was $30 for replacement crystals/pearls. I see absolutely no reason to have costume jewelry restrung at Chanel when any competent jeweler can do this. I had some of my grandmother's costume necklaces restrung at a jeweler at a significantly lower cost.

It was south coast plaza boutique and I think the SA was mayb a manager of some sort? BC a SA telephoned someone to come meet me... I gave her the original receipt from Beverly hill which I thought was super neat. The bag was lamb and she had said when its redye the leather wouldn't be as soft and nice. She suggested to try conditioning it a few more times and stuff it with more tissue paper to restore its shape and beauty. So she showed me how to clean and condition it.

I really wish I had been on the forums and noticed they were planning to double the price last year, I would have taken it in then. I hate to pay $610 when the bag cost me $1900. I saw another thread that said the bags are sent to Leather Surgeons in Doylestown, PA which is where I'm assuming mine will go to since I took it to Neiman Marcus in King of Prussia, PA. Apparently they are contracted by Chanel and their website states "The Leather Surgeons are the gold standard" - Chanel Paris so I'm hoping they can work some magic. I will definitely post photos once it's returned. I was told 14-16 weeks.

Wow, my lamb bags are probably in worse shape than the caviars but as I said, I don't use them often enough to warrant a refurbishment. Perhaps a cleaning but with these prices, I will be looking elsewhere for that service. I really hope they can do something with the dents. If not, I may be forced to purchase a new GST and try to take better care of it in the future.

How wonderful of her! I may just have to bring a couple of Chanel bags with me the next time I visit California :D
