Has anyone had any issues with an odor when they first get the bag? I can smell leather but it’s covered in an oil and chemical smell. I hoped it would be better once it was unboxed a few days but it’s not. It’s so pungent that I can smell it from 20 feet away. I just wonder if this is normal. Do the pebbled leather have the same issue or is just the smooth? Can anyone give me any feedback? TiA!

My mystery bag smelled like nice leather smell. Like a saddle, if that is a good description...

(Edited) I see that was already answered...I am late with my reply. LOL.

I know this was already answered, but I'm throwing in anyhoo. I've ordered quite a few bags and accessories from PLG over the last few years. None of them have ever had any type of chemical or other odd smell. Just straight up leather, like a saddle shop.

Thanks for your input! I must have got one from a bad/stronger smell batch because it definitely was not a leather or a saddle smell (been around horses most of my life). PLG Representative I spoke to said they use a combination of wax, oil and resin and that this happens sometimes where the smell of those products is stronger in some batches than others. Like someone else here mentioned, they also said the smell wouldn’t really diminish over time. I loved the bag otherwise so I’m trying to decide if I want to risk another one. Thanks again!

Did you return it? They said it wouldn't diminish. So strange because I am hyper sensitive to smell and mine that had an odor is now very slight. Sorry it was such a disappointment for you.
