Exactly. I don't have actual space. I hate having my bags all mushed up in my closet shelves. I can't even see them and so I forget I have them.
I love feeling that sense of relief when I let go of something I know I won't wear and welcome something new. That gives me joy all over again.

I don't really collect bags to make money. And frankly, I've lost way more than I've ever made by buying/selling them over the years. So I see it as an expensive hobby but one that makes me forget about the stressful things in life.
I mean, all of us on here know exactly what I mean. :graucho:
Plus, I'm really wary of selling now (and more so if I make a profit) with these new IRS tax stipulations. Having to account for every item sold, looking for old receipts and having to pay tax twice (when you buy and when you sell) sounds like a nightmare to me.

Agreed. I stand by this way of thinking. It's more of a hobby than a side gig for me so I don't always consider the ROI. I just enjoy the purses. I'll take a few losses for curating a sweet collection at this point. I don't collect Hermes or Chanel so it's easier to accept.

My gripe about the price increase is that it’s not even consistent to maybe indicate genuine increase in the cost of raw materials or production.

The Numero Dix in Black was formerly 290€ or $360 USD. Now it’s 350€ or 460 USD.

As a Canadian you’re now saving over $100 ordering in EUR v USD. And the EUR conversion to CAD is not that far off from what the former price was in USD. For example, when I was looking at the Dix at the beginning of Janaury before the price change, purchasing in USD would have been $482 CAD. Now purchasing in EUR would be $507 CAD.

On the other hand, the umi only increased from 320 EUR to 340 EUR. Not sure what it was in USD before but now it’s $450 USD.

There seems to be larger increases in USD. And they seem to be selectively picking presumably the top selling bags to apply big price hikes. Looks to me like they’re using rising cost as a cover to increase profit margins on popular styles. I took these figures from screenshots I had previously. Would be interested to see other inconsistencies in the price hike.

Overall, I’m glad I purchased the Dix in EUR before the price hike. And I’m still interested in the Umi as it’s only a 20 EUR increase.

Just an FYI, we don’t have to pay tax on the “personal items sold at loss”- I do online sales and spent a lot of time figuring out this topic.

Thank you! Yes, that is what I gathered too. But apparently, you have to show "proof" of that loss. Meaning you have to submit receipts and purchase proof to the IRS once you get those dreaded 1099Ks.

And what happens if I can't prove the loss? I do have some receipts but not every single one from all of my items. What if they were gifts? I don't have receipts for those. Plus, some of those Neiman Marcus, Saks and Nordstrom store receipts fade in time (you know that silky store paper) so now, I'm forced to make copies when I remember.

So I just think it is such a dreadful task on top of our already stressful tax filing duties. It takes most of the fun out of reselling.

Oh that's great. may i know which bag did you order?
I ordered Numero Dix in midnight blue

Tbh hardly ever brands raise the prices due to cost of materials. And this goes for most industries. Hopefully Polene will use this money to hire more people and work on their brand overall, and it won't go straight into the owners pockets.

Does anyone own the Sept and the Dix and can give opinions on the two? Trying to decide. TIA!

Or anyone have thoughts on either?

These two are my only Polene bags. The Sept is gorgeous and I just love looking at it. But, I rarely carry it because I’m mostly a crossbody girl and the strap it too short for me to carry it that way comfortably.

My Dix is smaller than I expected but I actually think it’s super cute as a short shoulder bag. I carry it a lot more because of the versatility. I just hate that I have to switch wallets to carry it because of the small interior. But, I love it.

The quality of both are really nice and I would recommend them… F30262B5-CECF-44B5-B0C8-4ECD66EDBE1B.jpeg

Super bummed about the price increases, as I was thinking about getting the Dix. Going to have to try and make a decision soon now if I want to take advantage of free shipping.
I'm in the same situation. I was thinking about getting the dix but it seems as if the dix had the biggest price increase (60 euros). I can't decide on the color (chalk or olive) anyway and believe the bag is a tad too small. The price increase is a no for me now. I am more tempted to get a new model than one of the older ones. Let's see what Polene will launch soon.

As someone who previously owned a Dix and sold it at a loss a few months back, I just want to support your decision. I really loved the style of the bag when I first saw it and these days I still do, but I found the capacity of the bag to be much much too small that it couldn’t even comfortably fit all my necessities. Everytime I was trying to use it, I had this headache of having to switch from small wallet to card holder to accommodate space for my phone and one mask/small sanitizer & pocket tissues. That’s really all it could fit or you won’t be able to get your hands in and out comfortably. I was super bummed to have found the bag I thought so versatile and chic to style but quite impractical. So, even though I sold it at a loss, I was happy to have let it go and haven’t thought much about it at all. Some bag is probably meant to be admired from afar.

Agreed. It's hard to pay more for bags we got not too long ago at much lower prices. For us Poleners who have been purchasing from the brand for a while now, the price increases feel more aggressive than for those who just arrived to the party.

I'm still unsure about ordering a second Neuf Mini in Taupe. Something keeps me from doing it every time, and I think what you mention might be my reason: I want to see what else they have.

I have tried numerous styles by Polene (some I kept, some I returned and some I sold), I am just more apprehensive to have 2 bags in the same style, when I can wait and see if they come up with something better for my needs. With these new prices, buying Polene is no longer an easy, fast task. Now, we have to think about these purchases a bit more.

Yeaa I realized the previous prices also made me more willing to jump on colors that aren’t the norm for me. I had plans to get at least one non neutral color Polene just because the price doesn’t make me feel guilty, even if it doesn’t get as much use as my neutrals. Not going to happen now, as I wouldn’t spend that much on a color that isn’t practical for me. Too much guilt. Hell, I’m kind of regretting getting the Dix in brown now that the price has increased. Black is more useful for my wardrobe and at the price now, I’d rather not spend that much on two of the same bag :/
