Some ADs sell preowned, like if they have one from a tradeup or such. I have bought a pe-owned from an AD in the past

Not true about the servicing; I bought a pre-owned Gold Sub from a reputable ebay seller, and sent it to Rolex (through my AD, who also didn't care where I got it) for refurbishing. No problem. They did it, and also gave their work warranty which I forget the terms, don't have the p/w in front of me. Had it refurbished within the past year.

But yes, they will not service one with aftermarket parts. (such as non-Rolex diamond bezel)

Maybe sending it through your AD had something to do with it.

We've been told differently. By someone who sells grey market watches. Appreciated their honesty.

From what I understand, add after market parts & many watch makers won't touch their own product.

I know no one asked my opinion but I like the mid-size with roman numerals and diamond markers. Do you mind me asking the price?

They didn't tag them in this store, if I had to try and remember . . . maybe $8kish{?}
I liked that midsize more this second time. Getting used to it I guess.

Swanky, I own a pre-owned Cartier watch and a pre-owned Rolex. My jeweler sends my Rolex back to them about every three years for service (cleaning). I've never had them question where I bought it.

I take the Cartier in to Cartier for service, too. They did question the serial number, but when I told them I'd bought it at auction, they were happy to service it.

good to know!

Swanky, Thought you were looking for a new Rolex, one with no history of being sold through an AD.
Sorry my mistake.

What did the OP decide? Apologies to her, think we sort of stayed on topic but maybe diverted her thread. :shrugs:

I'm sure I confuse! :D
I really want new only, unless I could get a new or preowned that I know I could send to Rolex for service. I don't want grey market new that Rolex would refuse to service.
KWIM?

Yes, I do know what you mean.

If its used, you can ask if It was sold originally through a AD. They might be able to tell you.

This summer we sold a Rolex DH never wore, he bought it through an AD. There is a rolex book (like cars have blue book) that they look up the pricing on. Ask to see it if buying a used one.

swanky,
did you decide what you wanted to get? I loved the rolex on you..
vegas: thank you for the useful info. I was considering getting a rolex from a grey market seller..I didn't know rolex can be so strict, if that's the case, I think i'll buy new.
