If I knew Rolex would service it I'd be all over it!
I figure they track #s to know if pieces are sold by an AD?
I know they won't service pieces w/ aftermarket upgrades. . . . seems like they're pretty stringent{?}
I can't answer about Rolex, but I can tell you this woman does not pay full price and has a Rolex and Cartier Roadster and who knows what else. you might want to check out watch forums and see if you can find an answer to that. I would expect a Rolex to be damn dependable - more so than some of the jewelry stores that sell them. You're good at goggling - see if you can find the answer you are looking for.
them and go out of biz in these times
Rolex is very picky. All the companies track numbers & they could see who had the watch before you bought it. So they would know if it was purchased through an AD.
If you have to have it go to Rolex, I would not try it. If your OK sending it to a non authorized dealer, then I would. You have to do what's comfortable for you.
Any other watch company doesn't seem to have the same issue. Rolex is allowed to make their own rules.
hey vegas
haven't seen you in a long time! When are you coming east so we can meet
hope all is well....thanks for the info on rolex. i see i was wrong.
No you might not be wrong. My info on Rolex is dated. Maybe they've relaxed this rule in the last coule of years?
I'd hate to see Swank buy a watch & then find out she can't send it to Rolex cause she's not comfortable with a non AD fixing it. The woman that owns the store & has a Rolex probably just has someone in her store service it.
hey swanky, have u made any decsions yet?...i really like the black oyster perpetual in the pic..i'm thinking i may go for that as its classy and would go with everything that my white j12 doesnt. definitly don't want to pay extra grand for diamond markers on rolex. the omega pic in page 2 is exact one i was interested in, and although i acknowledge that its a great brand and offering more for the bucks..i just feel that its still not in the same league as the rolex and that may niggle at back of my mind.
am worried that after i buy the omega and the inital buzz of a new purchase wears off will i still want a rolex?
am going in on friday to try the rolex on both watches...hopefully will be closer to making a decision then.
No, haven't decided yet :shame:
I have another pic I can post in a bit of a ladies and a midsize on my arm at the same time for reference.
I'm having a hard time justifying $5k difference in the 2.
Swanky, I own a pre-owned Cartier watch and a pre-owned Rolex. My jeweler sends my Rolex back to them about every three years for service (cleaning). I've never had them question where I bought it.
I take the Cartier in to Cartier for service, too. They did question the serial number, but when I told them I'd bought it at auction, they were happy to service it.
Some ADs sell preowned, like if they have one from a tradeup or such. I have bought a pe-owned from an AD in the past
Not true about the servicing; I bought a pre-owned Gold Sub from a reputable ebay seller, and sent it to Rolex (through my AD, who also didn't care where I got it) for refurbishing. No problem. They did it, and also gave their work warranty which I forget the terms, don't have the p/w in front of me. Had it refurbished within the past year.
But yes, they will not service one with aftermarket parts. (such as non-Rolex diamond bezel)
