So interesting seeing all your points! This is a topic I also thought about a lot. And came to the same conclusion as most of you. The B25 is a trendy size and it looks very cute but functionality-wise it is not on top. For me as well the Birken is a bag that I carry on days and it meant to look slouchy and bigger. I also wouldn't take the B25 to dinners. I would prefer to take one of my smaller Chanel bags or a Kelly, if I had one. Also the 30 size is much more timeless. The small bag trend already decreases. For taller people I would even suggest 35 size. Also the handles are so small and impractical and not meant to carry around a lot. I am a fan of smaller bags, but I think for an investment as a Hermès bag, which should last one a lifetime, I would take the more timeless and usable option.

Birkin 30 is great for your height. It’s not so big bag at all. I agree with one of member here birkin 25 looks bigger on photo but actually quite small, it’s cute for petite girls. I think 30 is great functional daily tote bag and very classic looking, in future if want to get going out night time bag maybe try smaller size kelly ?

I am also 5'7" and did B30 (mauve sylvestre PHW) for my first quota a few months ago and I don't think it's too big at all! She's a perfect size - I've taken her to elegant dinners (not too big at all) and shopping daytime and she's a perfect size for both. You wouldn't do a birkin (B25) for a black tie or something truly 'evening' anyways. B25 only fitting through the arm to the wrists is not ideal in my opinion. But I'm NYC based where I have coats and sweaters to consider also...I'm so happy for you either way! Lots of ppl loove their B25 and don't mind that it only goes through to their wrists. Good luck with your decision
Can we pllllllleeeeease see a pic of your mauve sylvestre Birkin???

The difference in weight between the two bags will be less significant than the weight if the essentials that you choose to carry. The larger the bag, the more you can carry and the heavier it will become.
Think of when you pop into a supermarket to pick up a couple of items.
If you pick up a basket, those 'couple of items' become a basket full - and that becomes very heavy.

Anyone living in a walking city like NYC, Boston or Singapore can chime in? What would you prefer, the B25 or B30? I am curious if the B30 carrying my essential will be too heavy as I walked around a lot.
Hello from Singapore! I've a B25 and it's perfect for days i bring just my essentials - wallet, dry tissue, wet tissue, hand sanitizer, lip sticks, phone, hand cream, with plenty of space left for other stuff. Love that it's light weight even with all the essentials. Only con is the handles which are a little short and you got to take that into considerations. As long as you don't have to carry anything that's of A4 size, it's fine to go for B25. Otherwise, B30 will make a beautiful bag too.

B25 because I am sensitive to weight and I don’t carry a lot. Most of my bags are B30/K28 bc that was the size I initially preferred (even when the most popular size was B35/K32). I have one B25 and one K25, and that’s sufficient for most daytime use.

I’ve carried both my B25 and my B30 walking for miles in NYC, Paris and SF. While obviously the B30 is marginally heavier than the B25 empty, as @WhiteBus points out, it can accommodate so much more stuff so it inevitably ends up being quite a bit heavier. I can however, slide it up to my elbow and carry in a different way. I am headed to Paris for just over a month in April/May and will bring both but will probably carry the B25 more often as it will be lighter.
However, I have no interest in another B25 and would take the right B30 in a heartbeat

If you’re walking around all day it might definitely get heavy depending on whats in your bag. That said, an easy solution might be to carry a lightweight foldable shopping bag in the Birkin so you could use it to carry your Birkin if you get tired or if you need your hands free
