Hello,
I would love to know the official color and possible year range of this bag. I was told it was 50s and had it confirmed there will not be a stamp and I cannot find one.

Thank you!!

Hi! What a gorgeous bag this is! To help with dating the bag, would you mind sharing clear pictures of the following:

1) back of both sangles
2) heat stamp (where it says “Hermès Paris Made In France” or something similar)
3) bottom of the bag showing the feet
4) lining of the bag showing the interior leather, interior pockets, interior zipper (if any), and zipper fabric (if any)

Cheers! :flowers:

Thank you!! It's really beautiful!
I have the back of one sangle now. I can post the second in a moment. The only stamp I see is on the very front with the gold foil.
There's a large open flap on the back side of the interior and then two smaller ones on the front side.IMG_20241007_211939_241.jpgIMG_20240915_145910_159.jpgIMG_20240915_145853_078.jpgIMG_20240915_145913_272.jpg

Thank you! This appears to be a Havane Crocodile Lissé Kelly*. Seeing the back of the other sangle may help narrow things down further, but the details shown are indicative of a production era of the early 50s or earlier.;)

OT: Love seeing that double-engraved brass hardware!

*I suppose it technically wouldn’t have been called a Kelly at that time.

Crazy!!
The bag is in great conditions for having been around all that time!

Here are the back of both sangles. 😊
Thank you so much again for the help!
Also, I did see another bag that was quoted as being from the '50s. It's black box leather and I saw some stamps on the underside of the sangle. I think it was just two initials. Did they start to add the stamps there in the mid-50s?

If I needed to bring this to the spa any repair, do you know what they would be able to replace and what would not be possible? One of the sangles is getting a little flaky on the underside and I'm worried it may start to crack and break. Generally I like to use my bags but I'm worried this one may be too delicate.

I’m quite shocked by the condition of the bag as well, particularly for one that is old enough to be considered a pensioner! It has been remarkably well maintained, which is especially impressive given that it is an exotic piece.

Thank you for providing the additional pictures of the sangles; it appears they were not date stamped, which was not uncommon for that era. Generally speaking, aesthetic details (i.e., those unrelated to the actual construction of the bag—such as production stamps, heat stamps, and hardware engravings) were not standardised until relatively recently. While production stamping began in the 1940s, there is a considerable amount of evidence suggesting that the practice was not fully standardised until the late 1900s.

Regarding repairs, it is not that any specific repair is impossible; however, some may not be very feasible or necessary. Typically, repairs to the interior of the bag and the body (including the front flap) are strongly discouraged. Common areas for repair include the gussets, sangles, handle, and hardware. Please keep in mind that if you choose to have the sangles replaced, the artisan handling the repair is likely to substitute the original solid brass hardware with new gold-plated brass hardware. Additionally, be aware that any new pieces of leather used for replacements may not exactly match the original in colour. This thread may help you get an idea of what kinds of repairs are feasible.

I definitely don't want to lose the vintage hardware. I would probably keep this item for very occasional use and not something to take out regularly.

The blue one is likely Bleu Paon Swift based on the production year. The red one is hard to say— probably Rouge Casaque Clémence, but having better pictures (specifically ones in natural light, without flash) would help to confirm. :flowers:

Hello, my SA sold me Gold oasis sandals, but I came in and exchanged for a larger size and got these. The exchange receipt said the sandals are Gold(3) but these sandals look so much darker than my gold Kelly belt. I get that it’s different leathers but is it really this different of a color or did I get some other brown shade? I also thought my first pair had a slightly lighter footbed color but I can’t remember quite honestly. Any help. My SA just texted back saying yes this is gold … second opinion?

Yes, it’s gold. Gold varies wildly from leather type to leather type and even dye batch to dye batch. Congrats on your purchase!

No worries, mine in Swift and Epsom are identical, and they look fantastic together.
