Wondering if anyone can shed light on this bag.. described as Barenia Toile but I don’t believe it’s Barenia.
No date stamp shown … any ideas? View attachment 5940510View attachment 5940511View attachment 5940512
Not sure about the name, but I’ve seen several of these from the 1980s. This one looks like Naturel Chamonix or possibly Naturel Box Calf— hard to be sure without better pictures, but both came with the brown “Hermès” stamp. I have also seen these in Courchevel + Toile and Veau Grainé.:flowers:

Omg! Thank you!
Totally extremely atypical right!?
I’ve been spirialling since getting the bag because of it haha.
I can’t believe CLEMENCE could look like this!? I even took it into Hermes Ginza leather specialists for review, and one specialist in passing said ‘CLEMENCE’ while the other specialist serving me said no it’s not CLEMENCE and ultimately did not know the answer and gave up.
The seller is an AACD certified shop so I would hope they would know to list their leather accurately?

This is a super rare small fine grained example of CLEMENCE leather bag for future reference!

For those that are interested, look how fine this CLEMENCE grain is compared to my Togo 2023 men’s Kelly.

I feel the Clemence leather description found on the internet needs to be updated for accuracy? It normally says that CLEMENCE leather is bigger grained than togo, which it can be. But not with my example from 1999.

I think I have a picture on my computer of a Clemence bag with similar grain; I’m not at home right now, but I’ll share that as soon as I get home. :flowers:

As promised, these are pictures of an older Clemence bag from my files with similar grain to your bag (c. 2002/2003). You can see how on the flap (front of the bag) and around the sangle attachments (back of the bag) the grain is much smaller than on the rest of the bag. Very interesting!

(Unsure of image source. This is a Beige-Rosé Clemence Kelly 32.)

Seller is claiming color is sienne but from what I read, sienne has contrast stitching and this doesn’t

I square stamp. B35 2005

Oh wow! Looks just like mine! And from a similar time 2002/2003. Thanks for sharing!
I wonder if Hermes still produces Clemence leather in finer small grain? Or is Taurillon Novillo the 'replacement' name for it?

For 2005, it’s not Sienne*. From what I am currently seeing, the interior and exterior are different colours, so this may have either been partially re-dyed or it may be a Special Order bag. If possible, could we see more pictures? Pictures of the full front, the heat stamp, and more of the lining would greatly help. Thank you!

*Sienne did not yet exist in that year. Also, the stitching colours for Sienne are dependent on the production year. In early productions, it was tonal. In later productions it was white. ;)

I asked about the horseshoe stamp. Waiting to hear back. The interior is chocolate brown. More photos in various lights. The color is changing a lot in various lights. Being told it wasn’t dyed.

That looks just like Brique in Togo and 2005 would be consistent. Togo in Brique did not have contrast stitching like Veau Box. Interior is some dark color, I think black and was probably a special order before there were horseshoe stamps. This bag won't have one, of course.

ETA yes could be Ebene also inside the bag.

Hello everyone
Happy to join the forum. Would you help me to identify the leather of this bag? The seller is not responding unfortunately. I'm looking for Togo leather, but I'm not sure about this one.
Thank you:heart:
